The Blowing Rock Land Exchange Act is about crooked government. The Town of Blowing Rock bought 192 acres a few years ago for the purpose of preserving the personal view of Councilwoman Barbara Ball whose 1.3 million dollar home overlooks the 192 acre parcel. The Town of Blowing Rock bought the land from the Nature Conservancy with taxpayer money. The Town did not even know if they could trade the land to the Park Service when they bought the land. Quite a risk to take with our hard earned money.

Enter Congreswoman Foxx. The Town met secretly with Foxx on March 20. In May Foxx introduced the bill. What most don't know is local sportsmen and women in Blowing Rock were unable to get a voice in the land trade. Sportsmen who donated money to the Nature Conservancy for original purchase of the land will not be allowed to hunt on the land once it is transferred to the Park Service. Another example of government doing what it wants without input from citizens.
