I retired 20 years from the Army/Navy and I am also 30% disabled through the VA. I always felt that it was unfair that I had to surrender back my retirement pay for my VA disability. However, over the last 15years I have learned to accept it. How excited I was to hear from my brother-in-law (50% VA disabled and 28 years service) that the retired/VA disabled issue was being addressed and the wrong was going to finally be corrected. Boy! What a’ kick in the teeth it was, to find out that it was only deemed unfair for “retired personnel with 50% or higher disability”. The rest of us (10%-40%) just have to get over it and be second-class. But I must humbly add; I would sacrifice the part of H.R.333 that would benefit me for those of you that had to retire before your 20 because of injury. You people are the real vets whom are not getting a fair break and deserve this bill to get passed.
