Horse slaughter is not humane euthanasia, nor is it a “necessary evil”. It is a predatory business that sustains a culture of cruelty to horses. Again and again, undercover footage has revealed that horses are subjected to extreme cruelty and suffering while transported to slaughter, and in the slaughter houses. These animals are our companions - they serve to protect us - they help win medals in the Olympics. The racing industry is a multi-million dollar business. We owe our horses a debt of gratitude - not a trip to the slaughter house.
