The Fairness Doctrine reaches well beyond religion. I don't expect an atheist, communist, or cartoonist to give equal time. The most successful shows are either conservative or libertarian. Liberal shows have VERY low ratings. Most liberal programs rely on public funding (a travesty in itself) to broadcast their views, and still relatively no one listens. Thus, they attempt to bind successful shows buy requiring them to put on views with which so few listeners believe. Groups who work hard for advertisements would be required to give a free ride to antagonistic views and thereby jeopardize funding from the PRIVATE sector. This is a significant religious, speech and expression issue. But, if you want to throw it back in liberals' faces, we must focus on speech and expression(religion is not that important to them). I'm libertarian, and I love speech and expression - even when I don't agree with it. But I would never demand the government make you let me tell you so!
