“AN IMEMMORIAL FREE NEGRO SETTLEMENT” THE LARGEST IN THE USA AND NORTH CAROLINA, scuffleton “AN HOMOGENOUS “NEGRO COMMUNITY” AND THATS THE QUOTE NOT MY WORDS!! IT FURTHER STATE FREE SLAVES OF TORRIES AND QUAKERS HAVING MULTIPLIED WITH RUNAWAYS SINCE COLONIAL TIMES FORMED THIS COMMUNITY. IF IT WAS SUCH A LARGE TRIBE OF INDIANS THERE THEY WOULD OF STATED THAT, IT FUTHER GIVES POPULATION STATS AND SAYS OF THE FULL BLOODED INDIANS “NONE” WERE IN ROBESON COUNTY BUT ALL WERE FURTHER WEST NEAR THE MOUNTAINS.
