Many that need acupuncture, I have to say, "No, Medicare still doesn't cover acupuncture." or "No, your Federal Employee Plan doesn’t cover acupuncture, or even though it does, it will not cover a L.Ac." I have been the Insurance Coordinator for Chung-Hwei Chernly, first L.Ac. in Texas-Lic. #AC00001, for 11 years.
So sad that many senior citizens, who really need acupuncture, can't get it because, being on a fixed income, they can't afford to pay for it. Many FEPs do cover acupuncture by an L.Ac, but many still have the outdated MD/DO only restriction, or don't cover it at all. They need acupuncture, as many of them are trying to do their jobs with chronic pain.
Most need help paying for medical trmts. That's what insurance is for! They come for trmt, finally get relief, and have to find a way to pay for it, or do without. EVERYONE should write their reps to support HR1328 because even if they aren't on Medicare or a fed employee, they either have a loved one who is or they will be.
