To those that say they love this country:
How would criminalizing the oppressed bring this country security? How would pushing undocumented immigrants further underground bring protection to this country? How would had this bill prevented 9/11? There is not doubt that this country needs security, but we need a comprehensive bill that does not oppress the weak even more. The funds for this bill ought to be used to strengthen the very system that automatically renewed one of the terrorists visas before 9/11 even though the CIA had already linked him to a terrorist network.
How would weakening our country in return of satisfying your rasisms, stereotypes, and ignorance prove your love to this country?
True, undocumented immigrants may have broken a law by entering this country without proper permission, but, didn't Rosa Parks break the law by refusing to give her seat up for a white female. Legality does not always constitute morality. Why should undocumented immigrants be categorized under criminals who hurt society, rather than those who break the laws of the government, but not the morality of society. Lets protect ourselves from those who want to destroy this country, not those who build on it in return for a better life.
Please oppose HR 4437 by contacting representatives, senators, and attending Saturday's march in Los Angeles.
