On the Blog: Keeping Tabs on Spending

You can never know enough about how Congress plans to spend your money in the coming fiscal year, so our latest post is entitled: “The Very Latest on FY 2014 Spending

Featured Items

This week, the House and Senate will both debate their version of spending bills for the Transportation Department, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and related agencies.

The Senate bill is S. 1243.

It would spend a little more than $1,100 per U.S. family on Transportation, HUD, and agencies such as the National Transportation Safety Board, the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation, the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness, and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.

The House will debate it’s verion, H.R. 2610, the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2014. The House bill would spend a little less than $1,100 per U.S. family.

Should both the House and Senate pass a bill, they will convene a conference committee to hammer out differences, and then send the bill back to the House and Senate for passage. Chances are that final bill will spend about $1,100 per U.S. family.
