The House and Senate have adjourned until after the election. The most recent new law is Public Law 112-196, the Military Commercial Driver’s License Act of 2012.
The federal government controls state commercial driver’s license (CDL) policies by threatening to withhold highway funds from states that don’t comply with federal requirements. P.L. 112-196 permits states to issue CDLs to individuals who are active duty in the armed forces and whose duty station is located there.
There is no cost estimate available for P.L. 112-196.
