On the Blog: 6-Month Spending Deal

As we reported last month, House and Senate leaders have agreed to a six-month spending deal that bypasses debate on annual spending bills ahead of the October 1 beginning of the new fiscal year.

The six-month “continuing resolution” is expected to come before the House and Senate this week, but it hasn’t been introduced, so we can’t feature the bill for you.

Instead, we’ll highlight the bills that are being folded into one and quickly passed, in our recent blog post entitled: “The Debate(s) That Won’t Happen.”

Featured Item

Congress returns from its August recess this week. It is scheduled to debate a bill to continue government spending at roughly the same levels for the first six months of the 2013 fiscal year, which begins October 1st. The bill has not been introduced yet.

The House will also debate H.R. 6213, the No More Solyndras Act. The bill would revise the Department of Energy’s loan guarantee program for advanced energy technologies.

Passage of H.R. 6213 would cost about $0.01 per U.S. family.
