Congress is on its August recess and won’t return until the first full week of September.
Of the FY 2012 spending bills discussed above, the one that has moved the furthest is H.R. 2055, the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2012. The bill funds military construction in the Department of Defense and also funds the Department of Veterans Affairs and related agencies.
Different versions of the bill have passed the House and Senate, so now it awaits a conference committee to resolve differences between the two. Passage of H.R. 2055 would spend about $1,400 per U.S. family.
