This week, the House will debate H.R. 514, which would extend expiring provisions of the USA-PATRIOT Act until December 8, 2011. The provisions deal with access to business records, individual terrorists as agents of foreign powers, and roving wiretaps.
No cost estimate for H.R. 514 is available yet.
The Senate will debate S. 223, the FAA Air Transportation Modernization and Safety Improvement Act. The bill is intended to modernize the air traffic control system; improve the safety, reliability, and availability of U.S. air transportation; and reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration.
Passage of S. 223 would cost about $15 per U.S. family.
