The Census! Job Creation Engine

Census BureauWith news that the census is about the only thing creating jobs recently, here’s a look at a bunch of the legislation dealing with the census in the current Congress. Might keep you busy for a while.

  • H.R. 1504, To require that, in the questionnaires used in the taking of any decennial census of population, a checkbox or other similar option be included so that respondents may indicate Dominican extraction or descent
  • H.R. 2071, To require that, in the questionnaires used in the taking of any decennial census of population, a checkbox or other similar option be included so that respondents may indicate Caribbean extraction or descent
  • H.R. 2075, To amend title 13, United States Code, to require that, for purposes of any decennial census, any individual who is incarcerated as of the date on which such census is taken shall be attributed to the place that was such individual’s last usual place of residence before such individual’s incarceration began
  • S. 1084, A bill to require that, in the questionnaires used in the taking of any decennial census of population, a checkbox or other similar option be included so that respondents may indicate Dominican extraction or descent
  • H.R. 3013, To amend title 13, United States Code, to provide for the more accurate and complete enumeration of certain overseas Americans in the decennial census
  • H.R. 3167, To allow mail carriers to serve in temporary enumerator positions in connection with the 2010 decennial census
  • H.R. 3373, To provide for a study relating to the feasibility of using postal employees as census enumerators
  • H.R. 3582, The Census Improvement Act
  • H.R. 4484, To preclude individuals who have a pending charge or have been convicted of a crime from serving as enumerators for the collection of census data
  • H.R. 4945, The Census Oversight Efficiency and Management Reform Act of 2010
  • S. 3167, The Census Oversight Efficiency and Management Reform Act of 2010
  • H.R. 5046, The Census Clarification and Privacy Act

There have been a couple of laws passed related to the census: P.L. 111-155, the Prevent Deceptive Census Look Alike Mailings Act, and P.L. 111-170, to amend title 39, United States Code, to clarify the instances in which the term “census” may appear on mailable matter.

Don’t go defrauding people about the census, OK? Get a census job so you can get paid to accurately tell people you’re with the census!
