Saturday Debate on the House Health Care Bill
The House of Representatives is having a special Saturday debate on its version of health care legislation, H.R. 3962, the Affordable Health Care for America Act.
It’s on C-SPAN right now and—guess what!—Republicans and Democrats aren’t getting along. In fact, they’re all kind of behaving like children.
The New York Times has a good post on its “Prescriptions” blog describing the procedures that the House will be following during its debate today. Watching this debate is a civics lesson like you never got in school.
It looks like the debate will continue all day, so pull up a couch, pop some popcorn, and feel free to comment on the page for the bill.

Last Thursday Pelosi stated at a news conference: I will make sure the Democrat Health Care Bill is posted online 72-hours before it is voted on, so Americans can read it. Then abruptly reversed Friday stating, the public would not be allowed to read the bill until after it is passed. Pelosi in despot fashion, made sure Americans could never debate what was in the Democrat bill before they passed it 24 hours later. In retrospect, Obama and Pelosi have accused the Iranian Government of thwarting democracy, after that government refused to allow Iranian voters a recount of votes believed fraudulent that helped reelect president Ahmadinejad. Did Nancy Pelosi any less thwart democracy than the Iranian Government, by not allowing Americans to examine the health care bill prior to being passed by House Democrats?
