Wanted: Wasteful Earmarks From California

With the extraordinary success we’ve had collecting earmarks, we’re starting to generate press interest, and I heard from a reporter in California today who’s looking for some egregious examples from the Golden State.

I’ve been up to my you-know-what just managing the collection of earmark data, so I’d love to have you all in the WashingtonWatch.com community help out with this.

Well? What are the California earmarks that you think should never have been requested?

Call out the boondoggles in the comments! Are some earmarks too insanely big? Not a federal priority? Are representatives just trying to bring bacon back for a big contributor?

[Update: Best practice - put a link to your earmark in the comment.]

It’s up to you to drive this project home with insights about earmarks. Take a look through California’s earmark requests and put ‘em below in the comments please. This is your chance to be heard – and to spread the word.

We’re still gathering earmarks from many other states. Feel free to input some data too!

Dana Rohrabacher wants to spend $4,463,977,000 for “F-22 Raptor Lot-10 Production, Lot-11 Advance Procurement, and Modernization” – and he wants it spent with the Boeing Company in Seattle! That’s pure government waste, and the numbskull doesn’t know enough to bring bacon home to his own district!

Cochran may cuuently lead the pack yet nw that I have had the earmark scans by Rodney Alexander (R-LA) ocr converted to text I think by the end of the weekend we may have a new leader. Given the fire in Palos Verdes I was delayed, but be on the watch for Rodney Alexander to race to the finish line.
