The House and Senate return from their July 4th holiday this week, and more annual spending bills are up for consideration. They will determine where tax dollars are spent for the 2010 fiscal year which begins October 1st.
The House will debate H.R. 2997, the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2010. The bill would spend money for the operation of the Department of Agriculture, the Food and Drug Administration, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and the Farm Credit Administration.
Passage of H.R. 2997, would cost about $1,100 per U.S. family.
The House will also debate H.R. 3081, the Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Act, 2010.
The bill would spend money on the operation of the Department of State, US-AID, and various other agencies related to foreign affairs, including the Export-Import Bank and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC).
Passage of H.R. 3081, would cost the average U.S. family about $460.
The Senate will debate H.R. 2918, the Legislative Branch Appropriations Act, 2010. The bill would spend about $38 per U.S. family on operations of the U.S. Congress.
