President Obama Wants Your Comments
Friday afternoon, the White House blog announced that the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 was posted online for public comment.
According to a campaign promise the President made, a promise repeated on his Web site, the bills that are sent to him will be posted online for public comment for five days before he signs them. This is an important step forward for government transparency and citizen involvement. Unfortunately, press reports indicate the President may sign the bill on Monday without waiting the five days he promised.
So go to Whitehouse.gov and submit your comments now!
Update: President Obama will sign the bill in Denver on Tuesday, February 16th.

As part of the economic recovery the FDIC 250K limit should be retroactive to before the indymac bank failure; Or the IRS should allow a tax credit for all lost deposits.

[...] During his campaign, President Obama promised that the bills Congress sends him would be posted online, and that he would take the public’s comments, for five days before he signs them. He has broken this promise on each of the four bills he has signed so far, but the economic stimulus bill is up for comment now on Whitehouse.gov. Read about it in a WashingtonWatch.com blog post called, President Obama Wants Your Comments. [...]

If ever there were a time to throw out every single Congressman and Senator, now is the time. What an unconstitutional piece of garbage we are fixing to eat.

I don’t see that it will work, because approximately 6% of the money will be spent on shovel ready projects which may help in the very short run, but the majority of the money will get into the economy after 2010.
The other problem I have is that the bill is filled with spending that is basically “pork” or pay back to supporters.
It also amazes me that the people we elect and continue to elect haven’t read the bill in any detail and can still vote to support it.

President Obama,
Where’s the help for millions that are at the 2nd tier and will lose unemployment while continuing to look for work, they way that I got it and I see that I’m not the only one, that this extension applied to every American that was still unempolyed under no fault of their own and still looking for employment.Mr.Obama I’m not a person that wants something for nothing,I’m a hard worker that is still looking for work but right now is not a good time for most Americans. Mr.Obama we need a tier 3,4,or 5 to make it or most of us will be homeless Americans.

The Office of Thrift Supervision has clearly committed fraud at several banking institutions, including IndyMac. The depositors have had their hard earned money taken away, yet the government fails to address the issue. Many Americans, including myself, have lost faith because the government continually bails out the individuals or companies that are responsible for the economic mess we are in. I’d like to see some transparency, accountability and honesty in the people leading our country. And of course, they could start by giving the 10,000 depositors their money back:)

In Cambridge, Massachusetts, an officer arrested a professor and I am assuming that the arrest had grounds or it would not have happened. My comment to President Obama is, and I support you 100%, your job involves macro politics not what is going on in the city of Cambridge or any other city unless it violates federal law. Even if it violates federal law, the appointed authorities that work for you should take care of the issue and the national chief law enforcement person should give you a report.
No micro comments from you Mr. President as you have a great deal on your plate and I wish I could help in some way or another.
