Economic Stimulus Contest Continues! Win $100!

The big economic stimulus contest announced here last week continues. Identify spending in the economic stimulus bill that will do a really good job of stimulating the economy, or a really bad job, and you can win a $100 prize. The bill goes to the House floor this week, so hurry and enter!

Featured Items

The House is scheduled to consider the economic stimulus bill this week, though it has yet to be officially introduced. Our economic stimulus contest has produced a lot of interesting – and some entertaining – commentary on the bill.

The House will also consider S. 181, the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009, which has already passed the Senate. The bill would extend the time a person claiming pay discrimination has to file a claim.

A cost estimate for the bill is not available yet, but based on earlier versions of the legislation, its cost per U.S. family would be minimal.

The Senate plans to consider H.R. 2, the Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2009, which would would authorize that program through fiscal year 2013 and increase funding for it.

It has already passed the House, and its cost per U.S. family is just under $1,200 per U.S. family.
