Your Investment in AIG
The U.S. government is modifying its rescue of troubled insurer AIG so that it will take $40 billion in stock. Meaning: Your investment in AIG is about $130. The average U.S. family is invested to the tune of about $400.
That’s in addition to the $1,000-per-family plunked down earlier on financial services companies.

I have admit I don’t get this bail-out. We have laws for companies that have credit problems, and those laws are called the Bankruptcy Code.

Why hasn’t anyone (media or politician) seemed to say that some of these firms should file for Chapter 11 first. If Chapter 11 will not “fix” the issues, THEN we (the government) can step in to help the situation?
