Summary

Posey County, Indiana, is seeking $1,000,000 for the Big Creek Watershed Drainage Improvement Project. Posey County, its Soil and Water Conservation District, Indiana Department of Natural Resources, and the Army Corps of Engineers have been working to address the flooding problems in the Watershed. One inch of rainfall across the Watershed can cause the creek and tributaries to top their banks while also washing tons of sediment from farmland and residential and commercial properties. This project benefits taxpayers by reducing the on-going need for costly flood clean up
