Summary

The appropriation request provides funding for loan repayment to prosecutors
and public defenders under the John R. Justice Prosecutors and Defenders Act of 2007. The
appropriation of these funds will ensure a greater degree of fairness and effectiveness in our
criminal justice system by providing an incentive for talented law school graduates to pursue
careers in public service.
