August 24, 2009, 10:14am (report abuse)Those citizens, businesses and local charities of Omaha who think this is worth having should support it themselves through voluntary contributions and to seek similar voluntary gifts from outsiders. By what right should anyone be forced to contribute?

August 24, 2009, 10:29am (report abuse)Clearly a project like this should be funded and vetted through conventional channels such as the NEA or other government funding agencies. It should not be an earmark.

August 24, 2009, 12:28pm (report abuse)The preservation of these historic materials is an important project. $200,000 would pay 3 people for a year, plus all the supplies and equipment needed. Maybe this needs to fund thru a museum of natural history, the Smithsonian, or another group that could pool projects and resources in similar fields and maximize efficiency.

Let them do bake sales, car washes, and panhandling.....Maybe 6 months of Wednesday night Bingo games and raffles.....Why do we, the taxpayer, have to pay for something we can't afford anyway...I really like Ben Nelson, and I've met him. This is not personal it is fiscal....

Forcing me, a resident of California to pay for this is absurd.
