My Name is Savannnah Price I am 16 years old and i am a deckhand on a small charter boat in Juneau Alaska. My captain says if he must acept the TWIC card he will no longer be in the charter buisness. It would hurt me and a lot of our trust worthy clients if we were no longer in buiness. I know i am only 16 but it should say something when a 16 year belives in something she is very postionate about and someone is going to ruin that with a simple card. I dont see why we have to fix something that is not broken, we are doing fine know we dont NEED the TWIC card. Let us spend our time worrying about other things. Thank you for taking the time to read this i hopr you take my opinion into consideration. It would mean the world to a lot of people.

People need to wake up and understand that this is only the tip of the iceburg of what the government wants to do. Them wanting total control of us for their purposes is their goal. And people need to realize that the government will do what it takes to accomplish thier goals(lie and intimidation). They will not stop with a card, thier goal is the chip implantation. People need to get informed cause I or my children do not want to pay for other peoples laziness and ignorence.

Capt. Jeff

The TWIC for most mariners is a waste of our money and Homeland Security staff. Most licensed captains transport people for hire for recreation, and don't take large tankers into secure areas. I spent 132.50 to line the pockets of Lockheed Martin and to get a card which accomplishes nothing. If one needs the card to enter secure areas, then one should get the card. The rest of us shouldn't have to.

Capt. Kris

There is no doubt the TWIC requirements are an unnecessary, burdensome & costly addition to the requirements already in place for charter boat owner/operators. They are more than glad to help with harbor security watch for our country; don't make them pay more fees & go through getting a original boat build in addition to the rigors already in place & high gas costs.

Capt Gregg

As a small charterboat operator I am against requiring TWIC credentials for small charterboat operators and their crew members. This is broad reaching and clearly unnecessary legislation that imposes an unfair burden upon small business owners.

Captain John

Charter operaters of the great lakes don't even have a place to use these credentials. How about some common sence from out leaders for a change.

Capt. Dan Manyen

I charter on Saginaw Bay for 3 months out of the year. Neither I or my boat has been further then 25 miles from my own house in the 13 years I've been chartering for walleyes. Why I need a TWIC card, the extra burden and woory to get one, and the money sent to a goverment entitity that amount to yet another unwanted or need tax is beyond me. Please revamt this law to include only the people who actually need it.

JB

As Capt Jeff said, for the huge majority of captains, this requirement is an absolute waste of their time and money. It does nothing for us. Requiring those that need port access to have the TWIC makes absolute sense. To require every single captain to have the TWIC makes absolutely no sense at all. It's nothing more than revenue for TSA and Lockheed Martin.
