As the wife of a volunteer firefighter who is training to become a volunteer EMT-B, this would be a huge help to us. He logs around 120 miles weekly driving to classes and clinicals, which could translate into a write-off of around $60 a week or $700-plus for the year were this bill to pass. My husband gets no compensation at all for his work, nor does he want any; he loves being a volunteer. It would be very nice not to have to pay taxes on the cash he spends to become a better helper to his community.
