Just another veteran welfare bill.

SAY "NO" TO MORE VETERAN WELFARE!

***

March 4, 2012, 1:45am (report abuse)

All you get from veterans is "GIMME GIMME GIMME"!

Start out by immediately cutting the veteran compensation payment levels by 25 percent. There is way too much money being thrown down that rat hole. Too many scammers trying to steal from the system.

Then go back and repeal the last five years of added conditions attributed to agent orange. This is an unnecessary drain on the economy. No one even knows how much money is poured into that hog trough every year.

Finally repeal all concurrent receipt. If you get VA compensation you should give up your retirement.

NO MORE WELFARE FOR WHINEY VETERANS!

STOP THESE VETERAN WELFARE PROGRAMS NOW!

In a time when everyone else is being told to tighten their belts and cut spending the veteran welfare program is asking for a 10.5 percent INCREASE in their budget. That is pure and simple BULL$HIT!

It is far beyond time to put a stop to all this and cut these veteran welfare programs back.

There is no reason for this kind of crap. These whining freeloaders are simply scamming the rest of us for everything they can get.

People, if it wasn't for our vets

you would not be living in a free

country - such as it is. These vets

have kept it that way. So many have

lost limbs, can't find jobs, and live

in poverty. They need and deserve

any & all help they can get. You all are unappreciative of their

sacrifices. Go join the Army or

An uneducated person is inclined to post answers such as "No more Veterans welfare" to our much needed COLA increase. While some of the people that say "No" we Vets were doing our duty for our country. If I were not so old I would go into combat again and again. However, I was wounded several times and i cannot walk...I would LOVE a to have a military Draft so your kids can go to War too. Maybe your senseless remarks would change. How many of your friends and neighbors have died? I hope none but I had 7 Brother Rangers in Arms die in my arms.....I am not proud of what I did in Vietnam and think about it every day. I am proud that I could serve in order that you guys and gals did not need to serve and could enjoy your freedom.....Have you ever seen first hand how a 3rd World country lives and survives? Most Vets have and we are so proud to be called an American...

Amazing that a bunch of the pink brigade and socialists condemn Disabled Veterans just like they did on return from Vietnam. Disabled Vets suffer every day of their lives from service to the Country for their sacrafice. Evidently inside the beltway think they should accept welfare like they do and be glad to get it. Disabled Veterans lost their quality of life an future. They should be compensated at least 25% more as per Congressional study in 07.

In Florida, voters put an amendment to the State Constitution (dumb)which gave veterans the same discount on their property taxes as their disability rating. Larry Bustle, county commissioner earning $70,000 plus $20,000 perks, has a 90% disability rating. He is a veteran. He only paid 10% of his property tax, $270.00 paid. He is a millionaire. He says he is within the law. Want to point out that Mr. Bustle was perfectly able to play 18 holes of golf at a charity golfing. This is what happens to the public trust when they think they are doing good. Instead of those that have an actual need, abuse happens.

If memory serves me correctly, this is your second issue in a row in which the "most expensive" bill is sponsored by a Republican. It just goes to show that our problems are truly bi-partisan. Nobody from either party seems to understand the concept of "BROKE!" I don't care if it's for veterans (I happen to be one.) or thalidomide babies or indigent retired school teachers (rare as hen's teeth), neither the federal government, nor most of out states and cities have any money for anything except the most basic necessities.

I believe in telling it just like it is. If I get a raise in my military retirement and my VA check I am going to buy a new truck to pull that new boat I bought with last year's raise.

Now remember, the only way I will get that raise is from you taxpayers. So let your congressfolk know what you think about this bill.

Just because some don't want those paying the bill to know what is going on doesn't mean they don't deserve to know.

Many of us US Veterans returned home some 40 years ago. Were degraded and spat upon by fellow countrymen. Perhaps that same group is posting in this discussion. Abe Lincoln promissed compensation for how war effects soldiers & families..from his time forward. We need the compensation and COLA to take care of ourselves and families as bedt we can. Some of up have physical and psyclogical losses that we try to make up for. Some of us have lost our families becauuse we were hard to care for emotionally. We witnessed many ungodly perals of war and that was to prevent communism from being your next door neighbor or a country we relied onfor a peaceful

Coexistance. Terrorism was alive back then as it is now. Who do you think got the ass-end of that & who do you think stopped it from spreading out of proportion? WE DID in the hot and the cold wars. Like myself, many of us volunteered for 4 years back then. Had an education but, with handicaps, cant earn as much as the ones we protected.

I would have been all for it if they would clean up the system. I know several people collecting compensation that have never seen a war zone. These same people then go on to collect social security. You explain to me how someone who spends three years and gets discharged for alcoholism is entitled to $40,000+ a year of the tax payer's money and free medical! I don't have a problem paying for those who sacrificed, I have a problem paying for those who exaggerate in order to obtain benefits. They can say that this doesn't happen all they want, but any person with a little common sense that has been around these type of people knows that it happens much more often than most will admit!

Welfare? You call veterans disability compensation welfare?

Try rounding up welfare recipients and putting them in uniform, and see how much defense this country has.

Is Workmen's Compensation also welfare?

VA Disability is Workmen's Comp for those who have risked their lives, limbs, and sanity in defense of this country. If you eliminate VA Disability, it should come after Workmen's Comp is canned.

You guys are pathetic. Veterans are the reason we are able to do everything we do today. If you think we are just waiting for handouts how about you spend some time in Afghanistan not knowing if your going to die or not everyday. Not knowing if you will ever see your wife and son again... I encourage you to get out from behind your computer desk and stand in front of our veterans and say they have never done anything for you. You know what they would do? Nothing, because they know they are a much better citizen of America than you could ever be and they have too much pride to let some scumbag get to them. If you don't support our veterans please pack your bags and leave our beloved country!
