Re: H.R. 2434, the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act, 2012 (Amendment to President Obama’s regulatory changes)

Dear: Rep. Diaz-Balart.

I am writing to you regarding your recent attempts to restrict Cuban-American families to travel to and from Cuba in opposition to President Obama’s reformed rules on travel earlier this year.

It is very sad to know that you Mr. Diaz-Balart, a Cuban descendent, proposed such a prejudiced, discriminatory, ignorant, and anti-family value amendment, which tends to separate the people who live in and love this country. It shows many of us Cuban-Americans that your human rights beliefs are put aside to your own ignorance and greed.

We don't need haters in America, we need peacemakers. We need people with principles, especially those representing the people of this country such as yourself. We need people that love this country. We need people defending the real interests of this great nation, which are the ideas of freedom, family values and helping others in need. You are against the most important values of this great nation and the ideas that built this great nation and defined our Constitution.

What about those of us who still have family there? You don’t know what it means to leave behind your love’s ones. There are many family members left behind lacking the most basic human needs, in need of medication and other items. There are many on the final stage of their lives and their last wishes are to see us. Simply put, you don’t care.

The current policy has proved that there is a slowly, but evident, movement to something different that Cubans did not have before. What did the old policy accomplished? A big nothing! Just more pain and suffering to the Cubans on both sides of the stretch. Decades of old policy has proven not to work.

Stop saying that the money goes to the government. The money goes to our families who need it to survive everyday struggles. Mr. Diaz-Balart, are you representing your constituents, or Cuban government interest? Mr. Diaz-Balart, do you understand that the people you represent are the same ones that travel to Cuba and elected you?

I think the only ones, who propose and agree with those old policies, are the people who are still alive who came in the 50's and 60's, “the right win dinosaurian Batistianos”.

I don't think the new majority of Cuban-American will support such a failing policy which at the end is only making harder the lives of our family in Cuba.

Thank God that you are in the minority together with your fellow political greedy cartoons like Rubio, Menendez, Ros-Lehtinen, and Nelson. Shame on you, as a Cuban, as a politician, as a person and a citizen of the United States of America.

God bless this country, and guide the Cuban people in their search for freedom!

Take out all the special interest parts of programs for senior taxpayer services, and Indian and Hawaain people. They should be handled at a state or local level or not at all. Then this bill may be ok.
