December 21, 2011, 8:16am (report abuse)It is a good bill. For people on SSI it is a tremendous struggle to make ends meet. This bill will certainly help those people. And, the changes are long overdue. There has not been a change in allowable asset amounts or from a small job in decades.

July 16, 2012, 12:19pm (report abuse)JAYCEES are encouraged by the very presence of this bill we just learned about, however discouraged that it's been sitting in a (Human Resource / Ways & Means) Committee for over one year.
We feel it has tremendous merit as a basis for those unfortunate recipients that are relegated to a non-active lifestyle due to their physical or mental disabilities and are further plagued with an almost punishment offset to the real meaning of the SSI Program for the Disabled American Citizen.
Since resource values have NOT been elevated nor indexed since 1989 and innocent Disabled people are being disqualified for mere and meager savings (i.e. $2,000.00 savings or $1,500.00 life insurance policies), passage is necessary!
