September 26, 2009, 8:16pm (report abuse)It is most unfortunate most people do not understand how important this bill is. Veterans fall victim to crimes. The police are restricted on how much they can help. (Example) Veteran is admitted to hospital and his identity stolen during his stay and all of the veteran’s funds are exhausted. No other Agency will put the Veterans First but the very people who are entrusted with that obligation every day. Our nation’s heroes are hurt by the lack of authority their police have. I heard about how the VA police watched an assault on a veteran because he was 15 feet off the property. We ask so much from our military, they need to know when they need help the Government will be there for them. We need to protect them as they protected us (US)

September 30, 2009, 10:25am (report abuse)I too feel that having Police that can only be Police while on the VA Property limits the ability to actually BE POLICE. I have actually seen a VA police officer run after someone who committed a violent offense on the VA property, the guy ran outside the gate and the "Police Officer" had to let the guy go! What crap!

October 30, 2009, 4:08pm (report abuse)I watched a VA Cop in San Antonio let a fugitive from justice go because he couldn't enforce the non-federal warrant. What kind of junk is that? I don't want some fugitive from justice walking around the VA while I'm there receiving care.

November 5, 2009, 2:47pm (report abuse)I hope they will pass s-252 soon, The VA ties up to many local agencies with issues the VAPD should be handling, not to mention locals needing help a block away.
