Agent Orange Legacy
October 30, 2009, 10:37am (report abuse)I am the founder of Agent Orange Legacy. Our primary mission is to create a permanent lobbying presence on Capitol Hill for the Children of Vietnam Veterans & Families of Veterans exposed to Agent Orange. I personally support this bill as I am sure do all of our members.
I have recently created an incomplete list of illnesses and birth defects reported to us by our members. I report that it is incomplete because we are still in the process of recording this information. Please take the time to review this list and consider accepting Testimony from our members as this bill begins it journey through Congress. You will find the list at our blog: http://agentorangelegacy.blogspot.com/2009/10/s1940-agent-orange-childrens-... />
If you are the child or grandchild of a Vietnam Veteran join us by visiting our website http://www.agentorangelegacy.us. Questions? Email us at aolegacy@gmail.com.

October 30, 2009, 6:11pm (report abuse)My husband died of Agent Orange related diseases. He was unable to breathe on his own the last 8 months of his life. I have children and grandchildren who have learning disabilities we believe were caused by his exposure to Agent Orange. I also had a miscarriage in 1978. The doctor told us the baby girl was so physically deformed that she would have been put into an instition had she lived. No such deformity was known in either of our families. It is my belief that the deformity was caused by Agent Orange exposure.
Those Vietnam Veterans still living, and their families, and the families deserve to have a study conducted. They also deserve some compensation for the misery inflicted by the use of chemicals by our gov't. in Vietnam during that war.

October 30, 2009, 8:49pm (report abuse)My husband died from esophageal cancer caused from his exposure to Agent Orange. I believe that my grandson's(paternal)various health problems could very well be the result of my husbands exposure. Please support this bill to direct that the VA request research on how agent orange effects the children and grandchildren of Vietnam veterans. With the ongoing health problems experienced by children in Vietnam, this study should prove conclusively that agent orange does indeed alter receptors that do and could continue to affect decendents of Vietnam veterans for decades if not century's.

(logged in user) October 30, 2009, 9:03pm (report abuse)And you think the idea that "you believe" something makes it even remotely possible. If that is true then "I believe you two are idiots." Perhaps that really is true, eh?
Perhaps those learning disabilities came from the other side of the family tree. Had you considered that as a possibility?
And this bill has nothing to do with giving anyone anything. It is about research. Let's keep on track here, just once.

October 30, 2009, 10:55pm (report abuse)I would like to thank everyone who was so quick to say "NO". I only hope that you or one of your family members is ever affected by a bunch of idiots who could care less about what could help change my life or the future of both of my daughters. It has already taking the life of my father. Not only does it concern me and my daughters but thousands and thousands of other innocent people and family members that are left to deal with and or pick up the pieces of what our government should be held accountable for. Their is NO punishment great enough for them. They are cowards and they are liars. They know what they did and justice DAMN WELL SHOULD BE SERVED. I DID NOT ASK TO BE 38 YEARS OLD AND IN A WHEELCHAIR OR SPEND MY DAYS IN BED. Something has to be done. Come on Ms. Obahma, where is your support for all of the veterans children? Aren't you the one who is pledging to help the forgotten veterans? What about their innocent children and grandchildren? Who is going to help them?

October 31, 2009, 7:43am (report abuse)this bill was just introduced, doubt anyone has had time to climb aboard. why don't you go play somewhere else, like back to 2254 or 3491. no one is asking for comp, we want research, then we'll ask for comp, so come back later, when THAT bill is introduced, k?

October 31, 2009, 9:31am (report abuse)Yeah, right.
"then we'll ask for comp" You sound just like all the rest of the scammers around here. "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme" is all you and yours know how to say.
Since there will never be any proven connections I suppose you will need some legislator to write a bill giving all of you free money. Kind of like the other scammers around here. You know, the bluewaternavy crowd, and the Guam bunch, and the Thailand bunch, and don't forget the game warden from Tennessee.

October 31, 2009, 12:19pm (report abuse)yep, you are right, gimme, gimme, gimme, and that is exactly what the VA will be required to do if research shows dioxin caused illness in these children and grandchildren sooooooooo get used to it cause it will be you, the tax payer, who pays! hahahahahaha

October 31, 2009, 12:42pm (report abuse)Well, I guess I will have the last laugh, since there won't be any proven connection for the myriad of "illnesses" claimed by all you scammers. And scammers you are.

November 6, 2009, 9:25pm (report abuse)As a member of the Agent Orange Legacy group your comments couldn't be further from the truth. Gravy train? Handout? Gimme Gimme? I don't think so. I own a very successful restaurant and hold a Vice President position with a major corporation. As the daughter of a Vietnam Vet who is suffering I want answers . I pay my taxes and probably more than you! After four years of being in a back brace as a child, two surgeries and preparing for yet another, it is ridiculous that someone would have such a lack of compassion for others. That is what I call an idiot.

November 7, 2009, 10:57am (report abuse)Why are the negative nay-sayers here nameless? My name is right there. If you don't like the AO Legacy forum so much, go make your own and be as nasty as you like. And if you are co convinced that AO and other chemicals are harmless, prove it to me by allowing yourself the same exposure as our vets experienced. Then have children. Then come back and I'll listen. My dad died in March 09 from cancer related to his exposure, according to the VA. As for your "gravy train," I take care of myself just fine. What I personally want is recognition that this happened, it is real, and it should not happen again. Next time it might be YOUR son or daughter, YOUR grandchildren it happens to. Then we'll see who whines.

November 10, 2009, 9:30pm (report abuse)I am a combat Viet Nam Veteran, and suffer from not only wounds, but agent orange onset illnessess. My son was born full term but with premie lungs, and almost died 5 defferent times. I now have to suffer fools that and their comments, on things they know not what they are talking about! I have notice that these fools that wern't there love to attack those that were, and to attack our wives, and children who suffer from these illnesses. Someone needs an attitude ajustment. You fools are like those cowards that to this day won't go in harms way for their country, but will enjoy the benefits that others fought for you. So who are the whinners, and free loaders, look in a mirror. In the country of Viet Nam, agent orange has affected three generations going on four generations of Vietnamese. Soon your tax dollar will be helping those people, but not your own people. Step in my space and call me names, if you have the courage. Writing your vermin comments, so wasy, protected by the net.

November 11, 2009, 7:15pm (report abuse)"Industrial releases have decreased 80 percent since the 1980s, yet I’m still full of them because dioxin exposure is the gift that keeps on giving. The body stores dioxin in fat cells and occasionally releases it into the blood, recirculating the same chemicals throughout the body. These have been linked to reproductive disorders, cancer and other maladies."
You think this proves your point? That's idiocy! Yes, all of us who remained stateside during Vietnam have been exposed to dioxin and may well have a loaded gun inside of us. But for the veterans who served in Vietnam the loaded gun morphed into an arsenal of loaded guns.
I thank you for this article - it only proves the need for the government to step up to the plate and take care of those who served in Vietnam - on or off-shore, damn it.

November 27, 2009, 1:25am (report abuse)Over my lifetime I have worked with a lot of folks who have reason to complain – the unemployed, the homeless, folks on welfare, terminally ill patients in a hospice. And not one of these groups has the intensity of whining that a bunch of veterans can generate. I really suspect that the veterans whine can be heard in outer space. It is that loud. Why don’t all of you moaning assholes take a break and go crawl in a hole someplace. Give the rest of us some time to recuperate from your constant pissing and moaning.
