In 2009, in a diverse country as America, in a country that claims to be against tyranny, it is still LEGAL in 38 states because they are Transgender, and still LEGAL in 29 states because of their Sexual Orientation. This is WRONG America. Pass this Bill and bring fairness to the workplace, accepting LGBT employees based on their merits, not their Orientation or Identity

August 10, 2009, 9:35pm (report abuse)This bill would not bring fairness to the workplace...It would tie the hands of employers to hire and fire based on performance. The employers would be put in a position to hire or not fire someone because of the persons sexuality or gender identity. It will promote bogus lawsuits.

August 17, 2009, 5:37pm (report abuse)This bill will prevent employers from firing an employee just because the employee is gay. We should have done this 30 years ago. This bill is about treating all employees fairly. This bill is about ending discrimination in the workplace.

January 22, 2010, 1:51pm (report abuse)This needs to be passed!! You are not AMERICAN if you don't support this. This is AMERICA it is wrong that you are not hired because you are gay. Sexual preference HAS NO IMPACT on job performance. This bill will protect, and not bring extensive lawsuits. This will not impact the workplace!!

March 10, 2010, 9:21pm (report abuse)This is ridiculous. I've been blond on my life but never thought to ask for a law to protect me from discrimination. What about all the fat people, do we need a law to protect them too? People with body piercings? People with tattoos? People with bad personal hygiene? Why don't we just pass a law that everyone who bothers to fill out an application is guaranteed a job from that employer else they get sued pursuant to the special protections under this law? Why do gays get to be some protected class of citizen? We don't need any more laws that encourage unqualified people to scream "discrimination" as the reason every time they don't get the job or the performance review they think they deserve. Now that's un-American.
