May 10, 2009, 10:53pm (report abuse)I don't believe this bill provides any protection of my personal information at excepted groups such as health care providers and volunteer service agencies. Am I misreading it? As a federal worker there are pretty horrific penalties for the wilful negligent release of personal information (SSNs). I see no such penalties for these people and the bill continues to allow these organizations to sell, display or purchase my PII without limitations. My biggest vulnerability appears to be my health organization or the volunteer organization. I do not believe that these organization need this information to do do their background checks. I think it is just the easiest way out and leaves me wide open to identity theft.
