A statue of US President Barack Obama as a boy will be removed from a park in the Indonesian capital due to public opposition, officials said Friday, just weeks before Obama visits his old hometown. The Jakarta governor's office confirmed that the two-metre (six-foot) bronze would be removed from Menteng Park and placed at the nearby Menteng One primary school where Obama spent part of his childhood in the late 1960s. The decision comes after 56,500 people joined a page on social networking website Facebook calling for the statue to be removed and replaced by a memorial to an...

From today’s bls.gov report on jobs, I noticed three things: 1) The Pelosi/Reid economy which started in January of 2007, lost a total of 6,653,000 jobs, worse than the 6,090,000 thought until today. 2) Despite the Stimulus, the economy in 2009 lost 4.7 million jobs, worse than the 2.9 million lost in 2008. 3) The Stimulus Economy (Starting March of 2009) lost 3,296,000 jobs, worse than the 2,742,000 thought until today.

Some of her answers to questions such as bringing our men and women home from Irqa, was an honest and trutful response. Ramsey was asked Feb. 2 about the issue by Maclin Davis, a former state lawmaker and attorney for the state GOP, the Associated Press reported. "I don't know whether President Obama is a citizen of the United States or not," Ramsey responded. "I don't know what the whole deal is there." Its time to turn up of the heat on these slow moving unconcerned legislators that really have a job and don't understand why anyone else would want to work. Their decision and our livelihood is in their hands. Thats one of the worst (ie., scary) thought in our heads that keep most of us up all night. Can you imagine that you have worked over twenty or thirty years and your fate is now in the hands of those that DO NOT have this country or our best interest as parr of thier agenda.

Push for jobs so you can control your own financial affairs, take care yourself and your children because those in power just don't give a dam about anyone but themselve. And, they love having the power to spend the tax-payers money even on themselves without having to answer to the 'tax-payers'. Why not? Its the tax payers money.

Speaking Friday at a small business in a Washington suburb, Obama took care not to trumpet the gains outlined in the new government report too loudly.

He said the data shows modest progress toward "climbing out of the huge hole that we found ourselves in." But he said that "far too many of our neighbors and friends and family are still unemployed," requiring much additional work to bring the economy back.

Obama also cautioned against reading too much into the single report. He said that "these numbers will continue to fluctuate for months to come."

Dow dips on debt and job woes

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Stocks weakened early Friday afternoon as investors weighed a growing debt crisis in Europe with a report that showed more U.S. job losses despite a lower unemployment rate.

The Dow Jones industrial average (INDU) lost 42 points, or 0.4%, almost three hours into the session, which puts the index at 9,920. The S&P 500 index (SPX) lost 5 points, or 0.5%, and the Nasdaq composite (COMP) was little changed.

The employment report was a mixed bag overall, but the market is more focused on what is happening globally," said David Rosenberg, chief economist at Gluskin Sheff & Associates.

He said that with the heightened concerns over sovereign debt, risk premiums go up and the outlook for the economy and stock market gets cloudier.

The debt woes continued to propel the U.S. dollar versus the euro, which fell to an 8-month low. The dollar also rose versus the yen. But the strength of the dollar had less of an impact on commodity prices Friday than it did earlier in the week, when it pummeled oil and gold prices as well as stocks.

Rally hits a roadblock: The S&P 500 surged 23% in 2009, and 65% after hitting a 12-year low on March 9 of last year. That momentum propelled stocks into the first half of 2010. But by the second half of the month, the tone had turned more sour and investors had begun to step back.

Between rally highs hit on Jan. 19 and Thursday's close, the S&P 500 has lost 8%.

Jobs: Employers cut 20,000 jobs from their payrolls last month, according to a Labor Department report released before the start of trading. Employers had been expected to add about 15,000 jobs, according to a consensus of economists surveyed by Briefing.com.

Employers cut a bigger-than-initially reported 150,000 jobs from their payrolls in December.

The unemployment rate, generated by a separate survey, fell to 9.7% from 10% in December. Economists expected it to hold steady at 10%.

MORE BULLSHAT COMPLIMENTS OF OUR ILLUSTRIOUS SENATORS..... After a year of hearings, markups, and closed-door negotiations on healthcare reform, Senate Democrats aim to move their next top priority – a jobs agenda – in just over a week.

That means the first procedural vote as early as Monday and final passage by Feb. 12, when the Senate breaks for a week.

“For Senate Democrats, creating jobs is Job No. 1,” said Senate majority leader Harry Reid at a briefing Thursday.

Democrats began briefing staff Thursday on a 500-page bill that includes a vast array of programs and tax extenders, some of which has bipartisan support. But Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell isn't committed yet to allowing the whole bill to move forward.

Most Knew

Most Americans (47%) knew that, when Obama was elected that he couldn't deliver on any of his promises. But, they went ahead and push for his election while gambling with the future of America and its people. What 'kind' of people would do such a thing. You can't call them people who "love' this country as 'we the people" do. This country future was a stake and those greedy corrupt bastards took a huge gramble with our lives and now we're stuck with someone that "maybe" an imposter in the White House. Who is this guy? Where did he really come from? Where is his true alleglance? What country is he really loyal too? Why wasn't certain questions answered about Obama from the very begining? What is all the secrecy about? No other president in this country has had some much secrecy about some of the smallest things. Who are those that are protecting everything about him? I say, no other president, has had so much controversy surrounding his background.

With the swearing-in Thursday of the Senate’s 41st Republican, Scott Brown of Massachusetts, Democrats fall below the 60-vote threshold needed to move legislation. They now need at least one Republican vote to avoid procedural roadblocks.

Democrats have been consulting within their own ranks since early January to develop ideas that will create jobs fast.

These include: tax incentives for employers adding new employees in 2010, programs to give small businesses more access to credit, tax rebates and grants for energy-efficiency upgrades, and investments in crucial public services (firefighters, police officers, teachers, and so on) as well as infrastructure (bridges, highways, transit systems, airports, schools, etc.).

President Obama’s budget for fiscal year 2011, released on Monday, includes $100 billion for job creation. But Senate Democrats aim to move new tax credits and funding into the pipeline this year.

How many jobs will be saved or created? “As many as we can,” said Senator Reid at the Thursday briefing. “We’re going to focus on what the Congressional Budget Office says would create jobs now.”

How much will it cost and how will it be funded? “The first package will be funded without any heartburn,” he added.

Why so few details on a bill on such a fast track? “We’re not going to step on the message,” he said.

According to GOP spokesmen, Republicans first heard of the launch of a new jobs agenda three hours after the briefing. Republican leaders have already signaled that they want a jobs bill focused on tax cuts, not new spending. They also want quick action on the estate tax, which phased out this year but would return in 2011 – to a 55 percent top rate – if Congress doesn’t act.

It’s not clear that the minority intends to use its 41 votes to derail a jobs bill. For one thing, on Wednesday, Sens. Orrin Hatch (R) of Utah and Charles Schumer (D) of New York released details of a $10 billion proposal to refund the employer share of the Social Security payroll tax to employers who hire new workers this year. There would be additional tax credits for employers who keep those workers on the payroll for more than a year.
