March 17, 2009, 4:42pm (report abuse)I like the bill with the exception of paragraf (4)D, which appears to be discrimatory in nature. While it is good that the veteran without an insurance plan would be reimbursed for his expenses, the veteran WITH an insurance plan would not be eligible for reimbursement from the government for what his insurance pays. The two vets are not being treated equally.

March 31, 2009, 5:36pm (report abuse)I am over age 65 with eight years of peace time service. When I turned 65 Medicare gave me Part A(hospital only). Now, if I must go to the emergency room, Va. will pay the difference.

February 8, 2010, 11:28pm (report abuse)No matter you served in peace time or war time--all veterans should have full coverage buiy what we were PROMISED when we entered the military. ALL BEINFITS SHOULD BE RE-INSTATED-NOT PART ALL--another lie we were told buy our government ,so our elected officials could padden their bank account. I guess next year the elected officials will be takeing it away.

April 8, 2010, 3:01pm (report abuse)From a non-VA provider's perspective this is a plus for veterans without any insurance but confusing for the ones that aren't eligible if they have Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance. May cause more confusion and frustration for both providers and veterans that it does good.

April 19, 2010, 1:16pm (report abuse)Had to file bankruptcy on hospital bills that VA wouldn't pay.Had heart attack,my hospital got authorization, then VA won't pay because I hadn't been to a facility 24 months prior.I had no idea since no one ever told me when I signed up at VA hospital that I was supposed to "check in"every year or two.Now they're trying to dismiss my bankruptcy because the hospital bills are greater than my farm expenses.I need to figure out something in the next week or two,or I'll be without a home.b.hunter@wildblue.net 580-603-0063 Thanks

April 20, 2010, 8:23pm (report abuse)Let me get this straight, since I go the the VA for all of my medical care, if I need to go to the emergency room for treatment, the VA will cover those expenses?

November 5, 2010, 3:35pm (report abuse)Most emergency bills from outside the VA are denied, not paid. There are many, many restrictions in 38CFR1002 and other regulations! Do not count on VA to pay. You need insurance!
