March 19, 2009, 10:47pm (report abuse)WHY SHOULD WE PAY FOR OUR DISABILITY? OUR DISABILITY CHECK IS DEDUCTED FROM OUR MILITARY RETIRED PAY. WHY?
John Bunting
March 25, 2009, 3:18pm (report abuse)Well boys, one of the main stumbling blocks was Congressman Duncan Hunter of California who was in the Armed Service committee. The top dog i believe. He retired on all the money he got from the defense contractors. His son has taken his place so we are still in trouble. It seems that the legislation gets stuck in the House Armed services committee over and over every time till it is left to die on purpose. The members of the Congressional Armed Services Committee are most likely taking bribes from the Military Industrial Complex General Ike then president, warned America about in his farewall speach. ie;Lockheed, Boeing, Raytheon and the rest, and are blocking the legislation because any funds allocated will take money away from their fellow crooks in the Defense industry. We are doomed till we jail all the bribe takers, i mean campaign contributions, in the Congressional Armed Service Committee and the rest of Congress.

April 3, 2009, 7:06pm (report abuse)John Bunting...WoW..I didn't realize this until you mentioned it in your statement. I remember working for a very large contractor and watched them manuvering the Government Agency to make sure that funds were funneled to their project at the cost of other contractors assuring that their contract continued on. I can definately see the son of Congressman Duncan doing the same thing. In short to hell with them (the veteran) and here's too me (the contractor). If he were in my state I definately would show him the door at election time.

April 20, 2009, 8:06pm (report abuse)HOW IN THE WORLD CAN ANY OF THE 83% AGAINST THIS BILL LOOK A VETERAN IN THE FACE. WHAT GIVES WITH THE COMMITTEE? DO YOU NOT REALIZE WE ARE PAYING FOR OUR OWN DISABILITY?

July 24, 2009, 7:27pm (report abuse)I’ve been in the Army from 1972 to 2007. I was medically discharge at 30% with 10.5 years active and the rest in reserve time. I’m VA rated at 70% now. So my retirement check from the Army is about $1500.00 a month but after they take out for SBP and the VA I get $17.00 for retirement. If I had retired from some where else I’d get my VA disability check and a full retirement check. I think it’s outrageous that I have to pay for my own disability. Why are all my years of service to my country worth only $17.00. We earned and deserve our retirement why are we penalized. And I don't get either CDRP or CRSC.There are so many bills and none of them are getting passed.(S1008,S546,HR2990,HR2302,HR333,HR303 and HR811).

July 27, 2009, 3:16pm (report abuse)I served both in the Regular Army and the Army Reserves from 1972 - 2003. I am retired with over 23 good years of service. I am drawing 80% disability. I can not draw my military retirement until I turn 60. I should not have to forfeit any part of my pay. I have earned both. Put yourselves in our shoes and see how it would make you feel to have to give up a large portion of your hard and well deserved retirement. Please do the right thing put aside all politics and vote yes for this bill. Thank you all for your consideration.

July 31, 2009, 4:46pm (report abuse)I hope that congress comes to their senses and passes the bill. I am retired and draw 30%. I know that it would be only the proper thing to do.

(logged in user) October 18, 2009, 9:09pm (report abuse)Why are we still sitting on this bill. What if our fellow service members fighting in other parts of the world to protect the lives and rights of them decided to lay down there arms and come home? These service men and woman are being dismembered and loosing there lifes. Do they know that if or when they reitre they will have to choose between disability or retirement. If they did there would be far less retires. Ted Poe get off your ass and push this bill thru like you told us veterans in Texas you would. And what about you Mr. Tom Brady. You are all talk and not backbone.
