March 2, 2009, 12:20pm (report abuse)Absolute absurdity(s) via the more compassionate and caring enlightenment.
We must endeavor to Stop further violence and duping of Americans of once regarded dignity via virtues of Liberty.
HR 739 is nothing but attempt for flagrant trespass of self-evident truths, regardless of our present guardianship obligations owing to Ms. Liberty.
DARE (them) to just say NO to the Dough!

March 17, 2009, 3:41pm (report abuse)739 is a back door way of getting European labor(rigid) policies in the US. No proof is required to claim you are a DV victim you can self refer and then never be fired form your job.

March 17, 2009, 7:27pm (report abuse)This is frivolous legislation at its finest. Their claim at the head of this bill that "Its reported that DV is the leading cause of injury among women between the ages of 15-54" is a blatant falsified lie. That should be your first red flag. Is this what our country has come to? Basing "legislation" on so-called "reports"? I urge Poe to come up with the source on this one, a ten year old quote from a surgeon general who was blind sided with false info from the gender-feminists.
There's no basis in FACT whatsoever here.

March 17, 2009, 8:25pm (report abuse)The domestic violence industry has become a racket for lawyers and full-time DV empoloyees. It is a boondoggle that does far more harm than good. It is commonly know than 9 out of 10 restraining orders issues are bogus - generally used in divorce for custody and financial leverage. This system is SICK and destroying the lives of MILLIONS each year! REDUCE FUNDIND FOR ALLEGED DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PREVENTION. It does not work and in fact hurts 10X more people than it helps. All these people twist the statistics - where actually about 50% of violence is initiated by women. I have seen the statistics inflated by 10 times the actual numbers by the professional DV advocates. Most people do not know the federal goverenment is paying courts for prosecuting ALL cases, even when there is no evidence or actual incident.

March 17, 2009, 8:41pm (report abuse)This is government subsidized fascism disguised as compassion and security.

March 17, 2009, 8:49pm (report abuse)This is a bad pork bill for radical feminists that practice Misandry. Gender political pandering pork laden bills such as this, violates the Equal Protection Clause of the US Constitution. The incentives for false one sided accusations are increased, and productivity in the work place is lost , while blatant discrimination against one gender is rewarded and institutionalized as a way of earning a living at the expense of the opposite sex. It's time to stop the gender wars!

March 17, 2009, 8:57pm (report abuse)We need funding for protection against false allegations of DV, not more to feed the hungry DV pretenders. Get real, equal protection under the law is the rule, not false accuse, prosecute and leave lying on the side of the road.
Enough is enough.

March 17, 2009, 8:58pm (report abuse)This bill shows just how insane our legislators have become. It is rotten pork. Very rotten. I'm beginning to think we simply need to dump every legislator we have and take a lesson from the ancient Greeks. They had a randomly selected 500 legislators who governed Athens. Yes, you get a couple of sociopaths and a few with very low IQ but you also get the majority who want the best for the rest of the country and have no need to worry about re-election. Right now we only have special interest brokers. There is no government by and for the people. This bill is evidence for that idea.

March 17, 2009, 9:13pm (report abuse)"H.R. 739 would promote the economic security and safety of victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking." It will do no such thing. This is one of the most idiotic pieces of legislation since prohibition. All it will do is allow any Red Riding Hood to cry wolf then jump in bed with big bad Penocio. As an employer the first thing I'd do is call a Business Broker and find out if my business was still worth selling, then I'd dump it and try to get hired back as an employee since I could never, ever, ever be fired for prancing through the woods to the nearest woe is me station to scream, "I was abused, I was abused, I was abused, that big bad mean man boyfiend yelled at my dog when he doodooed." Then, little Red crying wolf cannot be fired, laid off, or ever terminated for cause from their job. That's just about as dumb as dumb gets, even if the cry for help was real. Why not propose similar legislation for those who have earned it, like for veterans.

March 17, 2009, 11:37pm (report abuse)There is only 3 branches of government, these funds are taken out of our Social Security, used to fund domestic violence against men and males in general. These funds are embezzled tax dollars. Stop the corruption and use of tax dollars to fund bias, discrimination, domestic violence and destruction of the American way.

March 18, 2009, 2:18am (report abuse)Let me get this right - if the law passes, then all I have to do is claim that I am a victim after which my employer can not fire me and other employers have to hire me. Hmmm . . . That sounds like a great idea for allnemployees until the first synapse fires and logic kicks in.
Paul Clements
March 18, 2009, 4:03am (report abuse)Nothing but a takeover of American business by radical, anti-male feminazis. This bill would be a giant stride for a tyrannical feminist domination of the American economy. Right in line with NObama's plan to destroy us and deliver us to our enemies.
Ray Blumhorst
March 18, 2009, 4:35am (report abuse)H.R. 739 is a clear example of what bad government is. The violence against women act has long been (since the Clinton administration) a form of insanity plaguing America with its gender feminist, ideological tyranny. Not only is H.R. 739 not "sound science," it is junk science layered on top of junk science.

March 18, 2009, 12:02pm (report abuse)H.R. 739 is another clear example of our chaotic government. H.R. 739 is just luring more purgery to waste state and local time and monies and the purgery is not even punishible. It is just unbelievable how our government can not utilize common sense with past research and not even have the HR come close to the little round table. Like many other bills of this content, it is just filled with "political pork". So many people and agencies are making billions of dollars, instead of "doing what is right". No wonder why our country is in the state it is in....The government is instilling corruptions to adults, but sadly enough, more so, to our children....do what is right...Thank you, Charlie
Bob Costa
March 18, 2009, 12:28pm (report abuse)Why would a Bill try to empower someone to lie. Only chaos in the workplace will result, and women will be less employable.
Fredric Hayward
March 18, 2009, 1:00pm (report abuse)Funding an industry that creates more domestic violence than it treats is no way to "stimulate" the economy!
philip cook
March 18, 2009, 1:53pm (report abuse)It will indeed encourage chaos in the workplace and women will be less employable, as business will be wary of hiring women who can not ever be fired. No proof is required that the claim is valid. Even if it required proof what does a crime have to do with workplace performance? Should employers have to hire and never fire every victim of a crime? This is absurd.
Also, the premise of the bill such as claim "Its reported that DV is the leading cause of injury among women between the ages of 15-54" are false. Despite numerous reptitions of this claim (I've detailed over 100 prominent individuals and organizations) NO surgeon general or any other scientific survey has ever reported this. The CDC determines of course, that the leading cause of injury to women and men are auto accidents, followed by household accidents. According to largest U.S. Justice Dept., ER report, intimate partner violence injuries for women and men represent one-tenth of one percent of all injuries in ER's.
Greg Smart
March 18, 2009, 2:19pm (report abuse)By creating strong incentives for false claims, the bill trivializes the problem of domestic
violence and would marginalize true victims.

March 18, 2009, 7:33pm (report abuse)I can see three obvious problems if this bill passes:
1. Women who do not claim they are DV victims on application for employment will not get hired.
2. Employers will likely refuse to consider applications from women to avoid coming under this legislation during an interview/employment evaluation.
3. Employers who have women working for them will try and find a reason to terminate them before they can make a claim.
I don't see how this will benefit anyone.

March 19, 2009, 12:38am (report abuse)this bill is like a lot of others is stupid----the men in our country have had enough of the women movement bullsh*t and there are enough kids now growing up without fathers wanting to raise their kids so lets not allow anymore bull bills to waste tax payers money to seperate the family any furtther allowing american liberal women to win
James LoPrete
March 19, 2009, 11:21am (report abuse)Too many women have gotten too much money and mileage with false claims of DV. It's a problem that must be addressed in another way. Prosecution when warranted. Prosecution for false allegations.
