Every child needs to have to utmost of protection and due diligence that "Phylicia's Law" H.R. 729 would bring. Our children's security must take the forefront with our Law Makers. Phylicia's Law must be passed.

No parent should ever have to face what Phylicia's parents had to face. Our children are a toip priority and need to be carefully supervised and protected especially while they are in a foreign land.

I agree that no parent or family member or friend should ever have to go through what Phylicia's family and friends are going through. In this era of school arranged and sponsored field trips to destinations all over the world, those who are entrusted to supervise and chapparone the students need to be vigilant about this responsibility and be held accountable.

When I view the passing of the Phylicia's Law, I have mixed emotions. Knowing how slow the wheels of Justice can be and how it has taken great diligence and relentless pursuit for the parents of Phylicia to see that her tragic death is not in vain is phenomenal to me. The notion of fighting for other children and parents not to suffer or experience this kind of tragedy in the midst of losing your child is only a Grace of God and a perpetual reminder of the great humanity of the Doug,Lola and Christopher Moore family.

Safety first for our children at all cost on a field trip and any other time should be a given. If we have to pass a law for that to happen then by all means I support it and we should make it happen!

It is important that Congress approve Phylicia's Law. Passage of this bill will ensure the safety of our children on school sponsored trips whether local, in another state or in a foreign country. Provisions of this new law include a safety plan that covers curfews, room checks, qualifications of chaperones and emergency procedures. Please support this bill.

I am proud to have supported my co-worker in getting this accomplished even though it was at such a costly price to he and his family; continued blessings to the family and great work in this achievement, it will benefit many others. Using our voice is the best way to enact the changes that take too long to happen and our children must be priority.

This particular bill is long overdue. Please don't hesitate a minute longer than neccessary to get it done. We, the parents, loved ones and friends deserve nothing less. This happened to my brother and sister's precious daughter, and all of us are hurting very deeply. God bless you as you proceed to get this bill passed.

In my junior High school, a young boy was murdered in the bathroom. His parents thought he was safe in school. Phylicia went on a school trip with twelve chaprones, who did not do a single bed check. There must be laws to protect us. Thank God the Moores will not let Phylicia's death be in vain. Lets get smart and be Americans who care about our future leaders.

This law must be passed. Phylicia would be with us today if there had been adult guidance and concern. Why did the so-called chaperones go on the trip? The kids were left to do whatever !!!

we send our children to school to be taught. It used to be that teachers and administrators were parents, away from parents. that does not change just because they are out of the country, state, or even district. there are too many stupid laws for stupid reasons. let's stop that ridiculous practice. if the children are truly the future, then we must protect them NOW. please pass Phylicia's Law

I think this bill is an important bill. The true meaning of a shaperone is a person who accompanies ,supervises an protects. This will help protect children on a future trip.

Please, I think this is a terrible bill! It just further limits freedoms, plus I expect it will discourage most school faculty from ever daring to initiate any innovative, but potentially dangerous trips or programs! Naturally it is sad that a young woman died, but she was just that: a young woman. She was 18 for pete's sake. If she wanted to, she could have gone to Ghana all by herself. At 18, she should have been responsible for monitoring her own actions. At 18, young men and women even have families and live on their own. Why should a chaperone have to check in on a grown, legal adult?

It is imperative to pass this law. Unfortunately, what should appear obvious to all involved is not necessarily the case. You would only hope that when a child is taken on any trip international or other that there are competent people chaperoning to ensure the safety and security of that child. We owe it to the Moore's and Phylicia's memory to pass this bill.

I remember in junior high my parents wouldn't let me go on an overnight school trip because they didn't feel safe with it because they got to know the chaperones and did not feel comfortable with them. This was a tragic accident, and being a teenager once, written school curfews and plans will do no good if someone wants to get by them. If parents feel it is necessary for a school to have written policies it should be up to the parents to press the school for this information, not congress.

We lost our 6 yr old son, 7 years ago today because of AVM. It was no ones fault and the hospital he was taken to did everything they could but he was not abled to be saved. So I know what it is like to have your world destroyed.
This bill will do nothing to prevent future disasters from occurring. Even if the school has a policy; the adults there must check on the kids and the kids also must follow the rules. You would not expect the adults on the trip to stand guard 24/7 and watch over the kids but that would be the only way to ensure nothing happens. Once the adults do bed checks and go to sleep, the kids could slip out and do whatever. This law does nothing more than to require schools to produce more paperwork. It does not ensure the chaperones will do what is right. With our youngest son, if the school has a fieldtrip, either my wife or I will go. Otherwise he does not. Not that we don't trust others, but we are not willing to take the chance.
