February 21, 2010, 1:05am (report abuse)HR 4532 is endorsed and supported by most of the associations for the disabled and elderly, such as the National Association of Disability Representatives, and many others. The bill simply makes permanenant a "demonstration project" already in place, which has prove successful in practice. The Senate should now follow the House of Representatives, which approved the bill 412 to 6 on February 4th, 2010. The senate should act quickly to remove the "sunset clause" of March 1, 2010. With Social Security backlogged with disability cases--now taking over 500 days for a claimant to receive a hearing before an Administrative Law Judge, claimants need representation now more than ever. I urge the US Senate to follow the House and approve this measure--making it permanent for attorneys and eligible non-attorney represenatives to participate in fee withholding for successful Social Security cases. This is urgent.
