H.R. 40, The Commission to Study Reparation Proposals for African-Americans Act (94 comments ↓)
H.R. 40 would acknowledge the fundamental injustice, cruelty, brutality, and inhumanity of slavery in the United States and the 13 American colonies between 1619 and 1865 and it would establish a commission to examine the institution of slavery, subsequently de jure and de facto racial and economic discrimination against African-Americans, and the impact of these forces on living African-Americans, and to make recommendations to the Congress on appropriate remedies.

Black America,black collage etc. But the second a white person says something like i love white people, you are a racist. Way too much "political correctness" going on. And it seems to be one sided against the white race. Blacks need to let it go if they want to grow the future into a better place. Not a society of give me that or I deserve that. Go and work hard and earn it...Leave if this country is so bad

February 16, 2009, 9:04pm (report abuse)Since the 1960's I-as a White-have been discriminated against. No college grant because they all go to blacks. Applied to be air traffic controller, tested very high but they had to hire black females with scores much lower than mine. Have been the token White person on many job interviews but they had to hire black. Most blacks I know live on Welfare, get free housing, get food stamps, get free college- the list goes on and on. My Irish ancestors were indentured slaves to pay their way to this country and they were required to work as slaves for many years. "The females who became pregnant during their term of servitude were ordered to serve 240 extra days and receive 12 lashes at the public whipping post." 1/2 to 2/3 of all immigrants to Colonial America arrived as indentured servants. My American Indian ancestors had it worse. Blacks will find in history that their African brothers captured them and sold them as slaves. So-blacks owe money to themselves-or to us.

So who are the slaves now? The American tax payer. We have been sold into bondage by our government and big business. Let’s worry about today, not things that happened over 100 years ago.

October 5, 2009, 4:00am (report abuse)The Reparations Agreement between Israel and West Germany (German: Luxemburger Abkommen, Hebrew: הסכם השילומים) was signed on September 10,1952 for jews reperations. The Japanese got reperations from America in 1968. The government has a way to determine exactly which african americans would receive reperations. African Americans suffered a holocaust & Slavery for 400 years. America received 400 years of free labor from African Americans who built America. Most importantly they lost SELF KNOWLEDGE. Its been 150 years to long. They more than deserve it they need it.
