I don't exactly like the way the bill is phrased. However, I support the end result. The bill targets a strategic detail, how many men are in Afghanistan. What I would like to see is a change of overall strategy from using soldiers and warfare to control other countries to using diplomacy and assisting the people with food and other necessities and supporting initiatives to establish civil society.

But, I can see how limiting the number of soldiers might directly impact overall strategy. Possibly, it would force a change towards a peaceful and supportive strategy, but, at minimum, it would force a withdrawal from the most violent strategy.

I do have a concern that it would merely increase drone attacks and aerial warfare which be a very bad thing for the innocent people on the ground.

Progressives will turn this into a vietnam. I hope that Obama will listen to his generals and not the progressives.

More troops means more Afghanis will see the United States as occupiers and oppressors, more recruits for organizations that want foreign troops out of their country, more death and destruction. Our contact with Afghanistan should be humanitarian--help dig up the landmines, help build schools, help bring clean water and electricity to the people Thank you Barbara Lee and her co-sponsors for this bill.

As an American Citizen I oppose any bill that increases troops anywhere around the world. Bring OUR TROOPS HOME to protect our borders! This is ridiculous and outrageous and is anyone in the Senate or Congress aware of the problems that we have in our own backyard?! Stop deceiving Americans and put a hault on getting involved with other countries besides trade. Invest in education, healthcare, and infastructure or are you all intimidated that if you do invest in education, healthcare, and infastructure Americans might then read between the lines and vote you inconsiderate, greedy, puppet politicians! Well guess what, if Americans suffer the light at the end of your tunnel diminishes! You all are pathetic!

I understand the desire to limit war. Unfortunately those who want to limit war by limiting security are confused, naive, enexperienced, or misguided. Afghans WANT MORE AMERICAN SOLDIERS in Afghanistan. We provide security in order that they may rebuild their lives. They have no means of opposing Taliban forces if we leave. Afghans will die. These are good people; don't throw them to the wolves so we can all feel like we were part of some new Hippie movement. DON'T ABANDON AFGHANISTAN!

The whole problem with any military action we enter into is the politicians who actually control everything. They don't want to win. All they want is to be in charge. And not one of them has a clue. Put every politician in uniform and put them out in front. At least they can catch some of the bullets and maybe save a few soldiers. Either support the men and women you put in harm's way or disband the military completely.
