Detailed Summary
Social Security Protection Act of 2009 - Amends the Congressional Budget Act of 1974 to make it out of order in the House of Representatives or the Senate to consider any bill or joint resolution (or related amendment or conference report) that: (1) reduces or has the effect of reducing any current benefits under the old-age, survivors, and disability insurance (OASDI) programs under title II of the Social Security Act; or (2) provides for or has the effect of providing for cost-of-living increases of OASDI benefits that are less than what would be provided as of the day of the measure's consideration.

July 22, 2009, 2:24pm (report abuse)this sounds like a support for all of us who depend on Social Security. SS has been a porkers delight since Lyndon Johnson. That should be stopped. In this recession I do not believe it will ever be repaid, but this bill would give hope that the representatives of the PEOPLE are listening to them, not political pressure.

November 13, 2009, 12:23pm (report abuse)Political promises are not legal guarantees. Therefore, we should not be forced to pay into the Social Security Trust Fund if the benefits are not guaranteed by law to be there for us to draw in our retirement years.
