Once again we have the general public voting against a bill to add a presumptive condition that they no nothing about.

According to a BMC Neurology Duke University study published in March 2008, the insecticide is significantly associated with the increase in PD.

Read the above report (found on Duke Universities website) and vote YES to add PD to the list of presumptive diseases associated with Agent Orange.

Why are so many citizens voting against this bill? Are they all specialists in this disease? Have they done their research before deciding to vote NO on this bill?

I was in Vietnam in 1967. No one in my family as ever had Parkinson's. I have it now. It is believed Parkinson's is caused by exposure to chemicals. What do you think Agent Orange is? We need your help. We paid the price for your freedom!

This "general public" is tired of listening to all the whining about agent orange. It is time to cut our losses and write this one off. After all we lost that war so why are we spending so much time crying about something that happened 35-40 years ago? Take your crocodile tears and go away.

To ...,
We are spending so much time crying because our husbands are DYING from their exposures to agent orange. It takes years for chemicals to actually cause cancers you idiot. Ofcourse you are tired of hearing about it because you are a cheap sob who lacks respect for the very men who have protected your A$$ over and over again. And losing the war has not one damn thing to do about it. It's obvious that you weren't there so keep you opinions to yourself. People like you who sat home behind their little tv's and were never veterans don't have a clue. Go to hell.

FYI..the 2008 IOM report will be released tomorrow, July 24, at noon. Let's hope there are changes for the better that are long overdue!

I work every day with Vets. from Vietnam and I will be very happy if this passes. I see guys daily that are suffering from PD or tremors that are undiagnosed. Those that don't support this bill should work with them and see just how many Vets are affected then you would realize we did something to them and we owe them.

The Department of Veterans Affairs established a service-connection for Vietnam veterans suffering from Parkinson's disease, ischemic heart disease (IHD) and B-cell leukemias such as hairy-cell leukemia. These illnesses are now considered "presumed" illnesses. This "presumption" simplifies and speeds up the application process for VA benefits. It is important to note that this new policy will not go into effect until sometime in 2010. At which point affected veterans will be urged to submit new disability claims. Additional information about Agent Orange and VA's services and programs for veterans exposed to the chemical are available at VA's Agent Orange webpage, or call the toll-free helpline at 800-749-8387.
