- This item is from the 110th Congress (2007-2008) and is no longer current. Comments, voting, and wiki editing have been disabled, and the cost/savings estimate has been frozen.
S. 806 would give consumers tools to protect themselves from ID theft by allowing them to prevent unauthorized access to their credit reports.

February 27, 2008, 4:56pm (report abuse)This is exactly what is necessary to give consumers the tool for preventing unauthorized access to their credit report.
This specifically addresses the requirement for Credit Reporting Agencies to allow consumers to "freeze" and to "unfreeze" their credit reports.
This should be passed without credit reporting agency's lobbyist modifications!
