S. 712, The Commuter Benefits Equity Act of 2007 (3 comments ↓)
S. 712 would amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to equalize the exclusion from gross income of parking and transportation fringe benefits and to provide for a common cost-of-living adjustment.

Support this bill and any other bill to provide for equal benefits for those who use mass transit in comparison with the existing benefits available to those who prefer to drive instead!
Capricious Commuter
I get twice as much pretax -- $200 -- to help pay for my $300 monthly train ticket. I drive less. I pollute less. I don't contribute to traffic. I use less fuel that we have to wring out of the Middle East. What's wrong with that?

I can't believe that people who continue to harm the environment and congest our roadways for their own convenience (in most cases) get a better tax break than those who use mass transit. This is absurd!
