Choctaw American

The Choctaw Nation of Florida, has been waiting nearly five years to reestablish it self-determination and self-governance. Why is are the Creeks wanting to be recognized in Florida, if they come from Alabama?

RANDALL GADDY

IT'S TIME TO FEDERALLY RECONIZE THE MUSKOGEE NATION OF FLORIDA.IT DON'T MATTER IF WE ARE FROM ALABAMA THE FEDS SPLIT US AND NOW LYE ABOUT OUR PERCENTAGE THEY CLOSED OUR ROLLS BECAUSE THEY KNOW THE TIME IS NEAR,I'M KIN TO THE STEWART,BRADY'S,AND THE SIZEMORES OF FLORIDA,AND ALABAMA

Carol Thomas

I am a direct descendant of Chief William McIntosh. His grand-daughter, Sarah Ann Cousins Turner, (who is my great-grandmother)appears on the 1840 census for Walton County, Florida. I am a member of the Muscogee Nation of Florida, a native Floridian and have had ancestors in the area going back at least that far.

Deanna

My ggg grandfather was James Poston. I know he lived in NW Florida and has a Ec # 11205. The government gave him that number so therefore he had to be Creek. I also know he is a ancestor used for some of the persons who belong to the muscogee nation of Florida. I myself am not a member but hope to be when the opportunity arises. The people have waited long enough.

Cherokee American

I am glad that the Muscogee Nation of Florida is trying to be recognized. I think their chances are slim to none but do applaud their efforts. If American Indians in Florida truly wish for change, we should start a state recognition process like Alabama, and other states, have. At least our people could then be protected while we wait endless decades for the US government to make right what they did wrong.

I am a tribal member. I believe federal recognition is imperative in the preservation of our history, culture, and people. We do exist and deserve recognition.
