Why would anyone be opposed to this bill? I am a Michigander and a victim of the crumbling auto industry. I have made the decision to go back to college in order to switch careers to the more stable health industry. But for hundreds of thousands of families, this is about survival. Its not as if they will be living high on the hog with the 50% pay that unemployment benefits provides. In most cases, these benefits only provide more time to make difficult decisions regarding wether to band together with extended family (which is my scenerio) or to pack up and move on in search of higher ground.

Please, PLEASE pass this bill to alow us to continue searching for a job in an exonomy that grows worsw with each passing day. Why is it they can consider bailing out the Big 3 car manufacturers, but not help people who ar ein desperate need of some assistance. They can send billiosn overseas, give money to evey third world country, bail out AIG who pee's away millions on junkets for their executives... why NOT help out the middle class?... whay not for once give the very backbone of the United States working people some assistance? How dare Mr. Bush say that giving US some help is just an excuse to NOT look for work? You can not look for something that does notexist. Every dy I chek the claasifieds, check on line, check, check and check some more, and I feel like I am not worth anything anymore..... PLEASE, Mr. Bush...and gthe Senate.. PASS THIS Bil....

Is incredible how the senate just help ASAP the bankers insdustry but how slow (Veryyyy slow) they move to don't help the ordinary people that move the economy and the country. They destroy the economy and get help, we produce and we get nothing. They really represent us?

I loss my job in January BUT has worked for 34 years with only 3 employers. I am working Temp since October because thats all that was out there AND I have kept up with the jobless situation & the Extension of Unemployment Benefits because I been there and will be there again after my contract ends in a couple of mos. President Bush HAS STATED he will sign the Extension bill, so if the Senate can get that started today or tomorrow, get it to Bush to sign WELL this would be great news for all of those jobless AMERICANS who's benefits ran out. God Bless America in its time of economic peril & Blessings to President-Elect Barack Obama because he got a hell of a job ahead of him but the bright thing about it all is the man knows the blight of the jobless middle-class & low income Americans and he WILL do something to help us because he knows that these 2 groups have been treated unfairly for 8 years.

If I had the first extension in July, and exhausted that in October, will I qualify for a second extension if this passes - or is it only for people that have not already used an extension?

This bill passed the Senate today. It passed the House on 10/3. It provides for 7 to 13 more weeks of unemployment and it is in ADDITION to the 7 or 13 additional weeks many received in July. Bush will sign this week. Done deal.

I glad for all those people that are still jobless and benefits ran out in October. I am working Temp for a couple of mos because that all I could find, but at least the EUC will be available until another job comes along for me and thousands of others.

Really isnt great for those of us in NY where the rates .03% under the 6%. Getting 7 weeks instead of 20. If you cant find work, you cant find work. Im very upset about this, all others getting 3 months, to NY 7 weeks. Something wrong with this.

I am so fed up with how the government uses our hard earned tax dollar to benefit the wealthy. 5 per cent get the big break and 95 per cent pay for the mess that the 5 per cent put us in. I have been out of work since May. Did you all know that 40 is considered too old for the job application? That sucks! The extension for unemployment should be $1000 "tax free" a week for all of us unemployed people and should last until the recession is over. That will never happen but it would pay back part of what they owe us for robbing us blind all these years.
Fed up in Washington State....
