Since I can't get unemployment funds (all gone), is there anyway you can get me a job on Wall Street since we are investing 700 billion to bailout those dummies who are employed there. I don't need a lot for salary will take a low compared to those employed there now..low is $125k per year
thanks a bunch Santa

September 28, 2008, 4:36pm (report abuse)This second extension should provide an additional 26 weeks instaed of 13. our government owes us for all the money we have paid in to support their war, salleries, and medical benefits. I find it amazing how fast they want to bail out the rich corporations who have moved jobs over seas. lets take care of americans first.

September 30, 2008, 1:51pm (report abuse)AFTER LOSING MY JOB TO OVERSEAS TRADE..THE GOVERNMENT GRANTED ME NEW TRAINING TO OBTAIN A DEGREE IN A DIFFERENT FIELD..NOW THAT I HAVE AN ASSOCIATES DEGREE IN BUSINESS ACCOUNTING, AND MY FUNDS ARE ALL GONE, STILL CANNOT LOCATE A JOB IN THE WONDERFUL STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA (UNEMPLOYMENT IS NOW AT 5.8% JUST A LITTLE LOW TO QUALIFY FOR THE EXTENDED EXTENDED UNEMPLOYEMENT)..THE JOB MARKET IS SO BAD THAT COMPANIES THAT NORMALLY REQUIRE AN ASSOCIATES DEGREE ARE NOW HIRING PEOPLE WITH BACHELORS. $700 BILLION FOR WALLSTREET, LETS BAIL OUT THE RICH CORPORATIONS WHO SCREWED THE LITTLE GUYS OUT OF THEIR JOBS TO BEGIN WITH AND LET THE HARD WORKING MIDDLE CLASS STARVE.

October 4, 2008, 3:47pm (report abuse)Please pass this bill and help those whose unemployment extension has run out and need the additional 7 weeks to find unemployment, especially with the tightening of the credit market.. Those who have exhausted the recent 13 week extension from july. Though 7 weeks helps it is only 1 month 1/2. please consider 13 weeks... We can rescue wall street and bail them out but we should can't help those who have lost their jobs..
I see people who have never been on food stamps or aid applying ..

October 5, 2008, 12:44am (report abuse)I think it's such a shame that we as American citizens need to beg for what should rightfully be granted to us. Please consider wall street vs. middle class (I should rephrase that to poor class) who are struggling just to survive. Have any of the "Fat Cats" from Wall Street lost their jobs yet and if so, will they be applying for unemployment? This whole system is so backwards. Soon there will be no middle class, although we hang on desperately to hold our place in society. Please pass this second extension of unemployment.

October 5, 2008, 9:00am (report abuse)I have been on the elusive job hunt for many months and this was my last week of UI benefits. The job market was extremely tight before, now it is non-existent. Most employers I find have implemented "Hiring Freezes."
It would be prudent and a blessing to many if Extension Act S.3507 was passed for an additional 13 weeks not 7. The job market has gotten much worse in the last several months. Please assist those of us who have worked all our lives and now find ourselves without employment through no fault of our own.
Dave
October 5, 2008, 1:18pm (report abuse)My last job ended May 06. I expected someone with education and experience would find work quickly. This was not the case. My initial benefits claim ended six months later. Since then we've lived on credit and home equity to get by. I've come very close to getting a job (been in the final running many times), but alas, the job goes to someone else. This recent extension was a lifesaver for us. It helped us stay in our home (which we are trying to sell). This next week is our last week of benefits. We don't have any other options on the table. I've been applying to all types of jobs, not just in my sector. I couldn't get a night shift janitor job because I didn't speak Spanish. The job market in Oregon is bad, and getting worse as more and more people lose their jobs.
Please pass this bill!
Maggie
October 5, 2008, 4:02pm (report abuse)I hope the senate has a conscience and passes this bill to help people like me. I have worked three or four jobs my whole life to give my 2 kids what I could not have growing up. I lost my main source of income last December and have been unable to find a job. The government is always saying how much they care about the people. I just don't believe that anymore. Bush and his croney's just suckered lawmakers into giving them one big severance package for when they all leave office, $700 Billion dollars. They used their fear tactics once again to take advantage of us. Wake up AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!! Do whats right and help Main Street, not Wall Street.
PAPROUD
October 6, 2008, 9:02am (report abuse)To the members of the Senate who managed to have time to pass the biggest bailout in history and then chose to take a hike before passing this much needed piece of legislation that would TRULY benefit the middle class...remember that election day is on the horizon and you will have the chance to join them in the ever growing ranks of the unemployed.
Barbara
October 6, 2008, 2:55pm (report abuse)To our government - Clean up your act!! You pass a bill for Wall Street that won't even help 90% of the current homeowners that are headed for foreclosure. You also forget the working class people. We need help. I have been out of work for 12 months. I submit applications left and right. But it doesn't do any good when I can't even get an interview. Sign a second Unemployed Extension. This time make it for 26 weeks. It is what we deserve. We support our government during difficult time - it is your turn to support US!!
Marlene
October 6, 2008, 3:58pm (report abuse)I have lost count on the number of resumes I have sent out; also have had several interviews. However, I am still jobless and I think it is my age. I almost wish I was older than I am so I can at least collect social security. I have NEVER been in a situation like this in my life. Please pass this extension before we are all living on the streets.
Useless
October 6, 2008, 4:03pm (report abuse)Had a fulltime job with the federal government plus was in the national guard. Non-retained on the guard side so I lost my federal job within 5 days. Unemployment ran out...used my savings..then the 13 weeks..now it is gone. With unemployment high..we need the extra.
n
October 6, 2008, 6:42pm (report abuse)with increasing unemployment and many running out of unemployment, we need another extension of 13-20 weeks to help those out of work for 9 months to 1 yr and who continue to be unemployed. as well as consideration of increase in benefit amounts..by $50-100. we can bail out wall street but can't help those who are looking for work in a depressed economy.
Lisa
October 7, 2008, 10:31am (report abuse)Please pass the 2nd extension bill. In reading other comments - I agree with everyone whole-heartedly!! Everyone sounds so smart, why did we elect such morans to get us into this mess? Bailout main street, please!
Chris form Mich.
October 7, 2008, 3:07pm (report abuse)Unemployed 6-mos. College Degree. Professional. 25-yrs. experience. I search job postings on a daily basis. Am seeing fewer postings. At interviews I have been told that employers have received 2000+ resumes for an open position. This legislation is needed to help the unemployed on Main St. cope while continuing to search for work in this depressed economy.
Jill from FL
October 7, 2008, 4:50pm (report abuse)Please pass this bill ASAP. I have been looking for a job for 7 months and my first emergency unemployment ends Nov. 8th. Too many of us are feeling the stress now more than ever in just to live from day to day.
DEL
October 7, 2008, 11:17pm (report abuse)Another extension of unemployment
is nothing compare to the 700 billion dollars bailout and more million of dollars we spent on space program. We cannot find jobs in outer space,we need it here on earth.
MARILYN
October 8, 2008, 9:36am (report abuse)I AM A SINGLE MOTHER WITH TWO KIDS AND HAVE BEEN UNEMPLOYED FOR OVER A YEAR,AND WITH THE CURRENT JOB MARKET IN NEW YORK CITY I FIND IT HIGHLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND A JOB. I AM ASHAMED TO SAY I AM AN AMERICAN. HOW CAN WE BAIL OUT THE FAT CATS ON WALL ST. AND NOT HAVE MONEY FOR THE POOR WORKING CLASS. HOW MANY OF THESE TOP EXECUTIVES DO YOU THINK ARE REALLY SUFFERING LIKE WE ARE. HOW MANY HAVE LOST THERE JOBS? AND IF THEY DO GET THE PINK SLIP I AM MORE THAN SURE THEY GET A NICE FAT PACKAGE ON THERE WAY OUT THE DOOR. THEY SCREW THIS COUNTRY UP AND WE THE WORKING CLASS PAY THE PRICE. WE HAVE MONEY FOR A STUPID WAR AND TO BAIL OUT EVERY COUNTRY IN NEED BUT THERE IS NO MONEY FOR THE PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY. WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE? NOW ELECTIONS ARE JUST AROUND THE CORNER ASK ME IF I'M GOING TO VOTE? THE PRESIDENT IS AGAINST ANOTHER UI EXTENSION WELL I AM SURE HE'S NOT BEHIND ON HIS BILLS OR WORRIED ABOUT WHERE HIS NEXT PAYCHECK IS COMING FROM.
Joey
October 8, 2008, 5:10pm (report abuse)Please pass this extension before we are all living on the streets.

October 9, 2008, 4:10pm (report abuse)The Republican party refuses to acknowledge the crisis with millions of people out of work and unable to find jobs that went over seas or shut down because the companies couldn't afford to continue payroll. Shame on the Republican party. Your days are numbered and never in the history of this country will a republican ever get elected again.
nina
October 12, 2008, 1:51am (report abuse)Please pass 3507 Unemployment extension asap. Ca has unemployment of 7.7% as do 12-15 other states. This is not a reward but a help to those who have still not found work as the economy continues to depress...
Hard working Americans are hurting, please support passage of this bill to extend benefits for those who have exhausted their current benefits, so that they do not lose, homes etc.. Give time to find jobs...Consider increasing benefit amounts and a longer extension...Main street is hurting...
S
October 12, 2008, 2:01am (report abuse)I work in social services and have seen those who have exhausted unemployment benefits coming to apply for food stamps, it is a shame that wall street can be bailed out but there is no help for Americans who need support to find jobs. Shame on those that made a procedural move in the senate to stop passage of the bill on Oct 3. Thank you to Senator Reid for trying to have passage before the end of the session. Thank you to the house for passage. We now need senate to take action on this and other support for all those who are not finding jobs. Please pass this bill asap. 7 weeks is not enough time for those who have exhausted benefits... Give them 13-20 weeks to find jobs in this difficult economy.

October 12, 2008, 9:04am (report abuse)I have been unemployed for 6+ months and need you in Congress and the Senate to have the insight to extend unemployment again since you put us in this mess, we are good people perhaps not as important to you as wall st and those lobbyists, but, In the long run- if we go down you go down with us.

October 17, 2008, 11:51pm (report abuse)You have got to pass this bill. I live in Toledo, Ohio and we have double digit unemployment rates and my UI ran out last week. I have been looking for a job for over a year. I have 3 college degrees and been on between 60 and 70 interviews and I am told that I am over-qualified for the position.I just need a job. I need the money to take care of my kids and my bills. We need at least another 26 weeks and a bump in the amount of the weekly check. Help us with living and saving our LIFE!!! And keep us from ending up on the street also....It is not a simple request it has come down to a NECESSITY for a lot of people in America... The Government need to open their eyes and see this before it is too late...
Chris
October 18, 2008, 3:03am (report abuse)It's been 22 months of job searching because of my specialty work. I work with a defense contractor; now moving may be my only option. PASS THIS BILL! You helped Wall Street now HELP US stay a float. The republicans in our state voted yes on the bailout and no on the first emergency unemployment act 2008 (S-5749). They help themselves, screw us and then want our vote! Not going to happen. We are not numbers, we're Americans in need of assistance.
Alan
October 18, 2008, 3:11am (report abuse)How could you pass a bailout, preach main street aid and then say no to this. Christmas is in 9 weeks and I have no job; my extended unemployment ran out last week and it's getting cold outside. Mr. President: Walk the talk and help us immediately. You need to read all the comments of the unemployed and Pass S-3507.
Larry

This bill should have been passed before the break in congress. I'll vote against anyone that says no to this bill and encourage everyone to do the same. Let's show these jerks that we still pay the bills around here! WE the people say sign the bill.

October 19, 2008, 2:26am (report abuse)I've been out of work for 7 months and there simply is nothing in sight. This 7 week extension probably still won't be adequate, but it is necessary. That $700B for Wall Street didn't take you this long to approve!!!
Just One Second
October 19, 2008, 2:32am (report abuse)Is the Senate in session? Or, are they all home campaigning? The congress extended themselves to make sure that Wall Street and the Banks were covered with our tax money, but they left with unemployment sitting on the table?! When is this scheduled for a vote?

October 22, 2008, 1:54pm (report abuse)In my area of the country you can't find anyone willing to work so extending the benfits means that much longer I can't get some to do work.
Tina
October 23, 2008, 11:46am (report abuse)My 13-week extension is over - have one more week to come. Please pass this bill. It would help tremendously going into the holidays and winter. My family can get by on this money. My job was eliminated in February, 2007, so the slowdown (recession) has been coming for a while.
Carla
October 24, 2008, 3:33pm (report abuse)Please pass this extension!!! I have been desperately looking for work now for over 10 months now!! October 26, 2008, 8:11pm (report abuse)Please! We give so much to our country. Risking lives, seeing people live in the streets and having our children suffer because their isn't enough money to feed them. Lets get real here we need more benefits beyond 39 weeks! Help us now.
paid taxes. need help now
October 26, 2008, 9:07pm (report abuse)I have worked all my life (over 27 years) paid my taxes as like everyone else has and lost the job all due to the war, falling in housing area, price of oil and lord knows we ALL came name ALOT MORE. I feel that we have worked and slaved to pay our dues to the country and since the country has fallen and with the amount of people now out of work and NO JOBS ANYWHERE AT ALL, we need the 2nd extention to help us out before more people loose their houses etc. Kinda makes the country look bad not to help there own people when it is their fault we are all in this perdicument. If we don't get the help there will be more and more out on the street, more crime (theft, robberies etc.) just cause people cant get the relief help that we need from the government. PLEASE HELP OUR COUNTRY AND FELLOW WORKERS OUT!!!!
Kathy
October 27, 2008, 1:32pm (report abuse)Hello with Washington state being at over 6% unemployed. The benefits ended 10/05/08 with over 100000 people receiving this benefit and Bush went on break with out a new extention how many more will lose all or go to bed hungry? Keep calling your local news channel and media keep posting get congress of their behinds. This was approved but not signed. Ohio saw fit to not make more hungry. We care about the fat cats in New York but not the person who lost to overseas market or the economy. Call and write now. More people will loose if we don't unite.
Unemployed
October 27, 2008, 1:39pm (report abuse)How about we don't vote because Bush wont sign an extension. Impeach that guy. It is all about main street and fat cats. Look at the person who has kids and needs money and it is held up by a signature. We count what a lie. Barack and Mccain should be talking this up. Bush is making more homeless happen by failure to sign. Call now
about homeless
October 27, 2008, 1:43pm (report abuse)October 3rd this was approved and now state other than Ohio looked that the original EUC benefit was ending and everythig is worse than before. Call your White house now and get the idiot president to sign now. People are hungry and homeless over a signature. Do they not realize that 3 weeks is a big difference and it will take 6 more to get the slow pokes moving. Gregoire did not think about her state neither did Rossi. Fat cats bailed out but the average joe forgotten.
Bush stinks
October 27, 2008, 1:45pm (report abuse)He wont sign and the idiots wont release the money to extend lets move to OHIO where there is compassion for the unemployed. Call the whitehouse now call Barack call Palin. More laziness from the usuall goverment. How many people will become suicidal because of a signature.
