Please do not be rude to the Webmaster, they are just trying to help. Saying the "so called" WM is inconsiderate. If you are not sure about the wiki, the WM did include the link to the tutorial for you to check out in the post.

Thanks for your efforts. To help answer your question - I believe that most of us who log on to this site do not feel like we know enough to post to Wiki. In general, we've been seeking clarification about what has been happening to the unemployment extension proposals, not looking to provide info. because we have been pretty much clueless. Many have referenced info they have seen elsewhere in their blogs, but probably feel it would lead to even more confusion if they did more than that. A suggestion would be for you to post updates for us to read in Wiki and then point out the Wiki articles in large or bold face. (Also, if I were you I would not even post the wasteful, nasty stuff.)

Thanks again for your efforts.

Unemployedworkers.com is fine for stating the facts but I am more interested in what is going on tomorrow & they don't do such a good job predicting that & I thought their repeating many of the excuses the Politicians make and not being critical of the misleading things they say just helps with the misinformation. Makes you wonder how objective they are. I prefer a lot of differing sources of information & I can think about it and choose what I want to believe & how relevant it is. Unemployedworkers.com is just one source & as we all know that's the beauty of the internet the truth is almost always there it's just sometimes its hard to find--- but it's not like I got a job and am too busy---laugh!

Please share some of the sites that you have found useful. I don't think anyone wants to be a fan. I know I just want to know where others have been successfu finding good, useful info. Thanks.

Thanks, folks. It's very hard to get good info about what bills do and what is happening with them. (There are thousands of bills in every Congress and we don't have nearly enough resources to track and report on them all.) We'll continue working on how to draw together good information, as well as tools people can use to organize themselves - even people who don't believe I'm the webmaster! ;-)

ANYWAY!

June 29, 2008, 7:29pm (report abuse)

ANYHOW, CAN WE GET BACK TO THE SUBJECT?
DOES ANY ONE KNOW WHEN THE BILL IS GONNA BE SIGNED?

To Webmaster

June 29, 2008, 7:34pm (report abuse)

U are an idiot, you ask this question after over 500 comments made on this page.
You should be fired!

Snap out of it!

June 29, 2008, 7:41pm (report abuse)

After this bill gets signed and becomes effective, no one is coming back here. so get over it! in trying to make this website better its too late.
People this thing is not over until the bill is signed so stop being stupid, anything can happen in this game they have the ball!

Rudeness only increases the frustration of being out work causes us all of us and certainly if you need to belittle others to feel good about yourself it says a great deal about you.--How you act is not about making this website better it about it's about controlling your frustration and making something positive with it & we all benefit! If you don't you just label yourself selfish & immature & get ignored.

Good bye!

Check with your state's unemployment office, they should be able to give you more info.

The check is NOT in the mail

July 1, 2008, 7:47pm (report abuse)

From what I have read on Unemployed workers - checks should be in the mail by the END of the month. I contacted my States Unemployment office (Ohio) as to a time- frame. At this time, they will not provide ANY add'l information. Now we wait some more...

I am still confused as to whether Indiana is one of the states that will benefit from this bill. I keep going on the govenor's website but no news.

To Mike

July 4, 2008, 11:57am (report abuse)

ALL states will benefit for the 13 week ext. As long as you made your with Unemployement claim, before or after 5/7/06. Your state may have different rules as to how or when you will begin to collect benefits (checks). My state of Ohio is sending notification via postal mail. Check with your states unemployment office as to what to expect in the coming weeks. Hang in there:-)

New York State UE begins the week ending July 13. It cannot be collected retroactively. If your calendar year is not up, you file over the Internet or the phone. If it is up, you have to re-apply. It's pretty straightforward and easy.
Google "NYS Unemployment" for more info.

dudes, im a day late and a dollar short. my unemployment ran out and i am homeless and out of gas, frankly thirteen weeks of unemployment ain't gonna make a sows ear into no silk purse. this is a ruse and a quick fix
truth be known it gonna take a lot more than money to fix my lemons.
this little situation is fubar.

In Florida we had to send in a one page form if our benefits had run out. You can't hold on phone to ask if ok though, it hangs up on you & no more info on internet. no way to confirm if claim ok. I sent cert/retd but no card back yet tho' should have been. Out of work since early Sept & UI expired March. I s/b eligible & only send form not re-apply? Lost home already.

Ok, I live in Ohio, and was laid off 6/07. My benefits ran out in January. I have not been able to find a job in my field or anything close, and I cant get a PT job to at least cover the cost of daycare. So i was thrilled to hear of this extension. I applied.....and I WAS DENIED!!!! Why? Because I havent worked at least 20 weeks since I filed my last claim, and/or I did not make at least $206 gross/week over the last full year. I thought this was an EXTENSION??? If I was working during this time, why would I need to file unemployment. This is crazy!

Dee

September 22, 2008, 9:29am (report abuse)

All of us that was given the 13 wk extension will soon run out in Oct. My state will not even help us out with the food stamp program, seems if you were self employed in the FLA construction industry you are RICH............GIVE ME A BREAK. I worked for a comapny until Aug. 2007, so i was able to collect UE, however my husband is SOL. Actually were all SOL. Finally able to have saving in 2006...well that is at a 0 balance. Credit Cards are all maxed out, not using them for anthing but every month debts; elec., phone, car ins, cancelled Health ins. since we had to pay that ourself, cashed in life ins policy......so lose our home of 15 yrs and live under the over pass of I-4. Bush open your frickin eyes and see the average AMERICAN has lost their hope!

Urgent: Stop the Bush Bailout
In his last days in office, George Bush is trying to scare Congress into giving away the treasury to Wall Street.

Those are extreme words, but not as extreme as the reality -- over the weekend a plan was concocted to give away $1.8 trillion dollars of tax money with NO limits on how it's spent, and no guarantees we'll ever see it again. And the Treasury Secretary had the gall to say limiting payouts to executives who created this mess would be a "deal breaker."

This is a deal which SHOULD be broken. Or at least re-negotiated. Economists have already made clear that this is a bad deal for everyone except the corporations and wealthy investors whose greed created the crisis.

Call your Senators to oppose George Bush's corporate bailout.

September 24, 2008, 10:16am (report abuse)

I was relieved to hear of the extension and received my filing papers in August. My benefits ran out in April this year and while I continue to look diligently for work, I've had no luck.

Today I found out I was denied since I didn't make enough money in the few months before unemployment. (Traditionally, summer is lean for teachers, and we don't make much to begin with.)

I'm well educated, experienced in many areas outside of education, and yet I cannot find work. I am often told I am too educated. I'm frustrated, 51, and afraid that the employment situation is not going to get any better any time soon.

Best of luck to everyone.

Dave, I sure know where you're coming from! I'm facing the same issue and am incredulous!

Also annoyed that my state would spend @ least $5 to do all the printing and mailing to get the info to em, send me the notice that taxes will be withheld, send the claims process booklet and then send the letter of denial. Such waste!!

Good luck!

I wonder how George Bush and his sidekick Dick can talk if neither of these complete idiots do not have a brain? I know by listening to his executive branch that people without brains do alot of talking! They both, when trying to answering questions that require thought, look like a mule looking at a new gate! Worthless eaters. They both should have grown up and been weeds. I hope when Webster publishes a new addition, that their pictures will be next to the definition for the work "Stupid". Look at these two dumb asses! Even McCain has dropped kicked Bush to the curb. They both should make one more brilliant cluster phucqe decision, and quit. Like he say, so forth, so on, futhermore, like I say, etcetera. Dude time for you to hit the bricks and join the rest of us unemployed job seekers trying to avoid living in the basement of an outhouse. We the people need to pop out of the cake and start holding this gene pool accountable. So, I punt.

in california the job market on average wants to offer from minimum wage to 10 or 12 $ an hr.
how can I raise my family on that.
the benifits from unemployment helps but it's not enough. Somthing has to be done now . extending the benies helps but we need more. Whats happening with this country? It's the same ol story, the rich get richer and screw the poor. The car companies are crying about being out of money,
how about making the cars cheaper? Alot cheaper and sell alot more.

I do not know why people keep referring
To the economy as we are in a recession
A recession is a slow down in the economic growth
And consumer spending in an economy, we are well beyond
A recession this is a Depression, our news casters are candy coating
The seriousness of the economy by calling it a recession
Perhaps they should review macro economics 101.

December 1, 2008, 11:45pm (report abuse)

No kidding. The money is going to all the wrong places. Plus, as an increasing number of people are unemployed, more jobs are lost (obviously) but the impact is that compensation to pay to the unemployed comes from the employed. With that, the employed and employers loose more money and more become unemployed because they're trying to pay for the unemployed. There seems to be a severe lack of financial knowledge in this country.
