America is re-discovering the value of exercise, community, and patriotism. Passage of this bill would be a symbol of those ideals. H.R. 74 does not take anyone's land away. It does not authorize any federal funding. It merely gives federal recognition to hundreds of existing, volunteer managed local trails to be a part of a nation-wide coast-to-coast network of trails collectively called, The American Discovery Trail. East coast towns now depend on tourism dollars brought in through the heavily traveled 2100-mile Appachian Trail. By contrast, the American Discovery Trail is 6300 miles long with approximately 32 million people living within 15 minutes of it. Haven't you ever been on a path and wondered where you could end up if you just kept going? This path can take you across the Rocky Mountains, deserts, plains, and two oceans. The trail is complete. Hikers are on it. This bill would help share what is waiting for everyone.

Health issues are a major concern for the citizens of our great Nation. This bill provides the opportunity to give people the chance to do what every doctor advises their patients - walk - exercise - ride a bike. This bill puts trails in neighborhoods where people will use them.

Vast is the key word here. The middle of the country is vastly overlooked. On a local note, here in Nebraska, our vistas are vast. Our desire to make you feel welcome is huge. Passage of the bill is important to give the American Discovery Trail the continuity needed to protect it for generations to come. Our State Congressional representatives and Senators can't put forth just a half-vast effort on HR 74. The time to act is NOW, to finally put this bill in passed status.

Outdoor exercise is great for the body and the health of the body. This is a beautiful nation and there is no better way to see it history and beauty than to trek across it at a slow pace. Or to get out on a trail near home for a few hours a week. This trail is winthin 30 minutes of 23 million of our citizens homes.

This is an extremely important bill that has been "held down" in previous sessions. It requires no taxpayer money in simply setting down rules for recognition as a Discovery Trail and naming the first of these, the American Discovery Trail. American Discovery Trail is the only nationwide hilking, biking trail. Let's get this bill passed!

I suport this bill which will designate the American Discovery Trail, the only nationwide, Delaware to California hiking and biking trail. This trail deserves congressional recognition at no expense to the taxpayers.

What a great project. Like the early settlers of our great country I can walk from one coast to the other.WHat changes there have been. Think of all the wonderful places to see and great folks along the way. I'm all for it.
