Wilderness, and the trails that can take a person to it, are one of the most valuable resources available to us and future generations. It is vitally important to give the Pacific Northwest Trail National Scenic Trail status to both protect and publicize this great resource.

This trail can do for the health of our youth and economy what 100 years of debate cannot-create success. This beautiful route has a great, dedicated and vibrant volunteer support group of fine people and is staged to succeed if given the National Scenic Trail status.

The Pacific Northwest Trail goes through some of the most rugged and beautiful areas of the United States. Parts of the trail are historic trails used by Native Americans, miners, and others. Volunteers from all over the Northwest, and indeed, from all over the U.S. have built this wonderful trail and maintained it. The Pacific Northwest Trail is certainly worthy to be designated a National Scenic Trail. I urge you to pass this bill.

The PNT is a fantastic project that should be protected by legislation. As a privately-funded trail project, it is truly a gem in the wilderness and should be part of the National Scenic Trails system.

I have been a hiker with Skagit Audubon for quite a few years and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It one that brings back memories and enables me to hike to spots in our vicinity I would never have imagined available to me. Yes, yes, do make the Pacific Northwest Trail part of the National Trail System. Do protect this beautiful and so far unspoiled area for many generations that will follow me. So much of our wilderness heritage is disappearing each day. Please pass HR 5926 for me and for those who follow and wish to enjoy the pleasures and feelings the discovery of new horizons bring.

I am fully behind giving the Pacific Northwest Trail the National Scenic Trail Status. It will be a just reward for all of the volunteers who have worked so hard to create and maintain the trail. This trail, especially with the added publicity and funds provided by National Scenic Trail status, will give many Americans a chance to enjoy the wild and scenic Pacific Northwest.

We recently visited Canada, and saw a portion of the TransCanada trail. This is a wonderful example of what we could achieve in the US with the PNT being part of a coast to coast trail. The PNT covers some very scenic territory, and has a lot of hard volunteer hours already accrued. This designation would be well deserved!

Please pass HR 5926 to make the Pacific Northwest Trail part of the National Scenic Trail System forever. The PNT Assn. has been working diligently for years to get to this important point . The NSTS, if this legislation passes, will be there not only for us, but for all generations in the future. The PNT needs and deserves national recognition.

The Pacific Northwest Trail (PNT) a spectacular east to west trail running from Glacier National Park to the Ocean through some of the most rugged and beautiful areas of the United States, is a perfect addition to the National Scenic Trail system. Thousands of hours of volunteer effort have already been put into developing and maintaining the trail elevating it to the status of National Scenic Trail is the next logical step.

Through the years the PNT has provided the stage for the Service Knowledge Youth (SKY) Education Program providing opportunity for students from the Northwest to practice stewardship, learn team building through community service and develop leadership skills. Designating the PNT National Scenic Trail status reinforces our countries commitment to those worthy goals.

US National Scenic Trails are the envy of people around the world and the Pacific NorthWest Trail will enhance the reputation of that network. I'm a Brit and hiked in the area four years ago; I would love to return to hike this stunning trail - it'd be the feather in my hiking cap.
