May 14, 2008, 1:58pm (report abuse)This is a very good thing. It can provide money for small business to do research and development of solar energy products which in turn will benefit everyone and the environment. As a licensee of technology from a DOE lab we desperately need funding for research to advance the licensed technology. There has already been considerable money spent to get the technology to it's current state but more is needed to move the technology to commercialization and lately funding for solar energy research / SBIR etc. has been practically non-existent.
